Conveniently located, just off I-5 at Palomar Airport Road, parking is okay, but on the busier days of the week it can get a bit tight. This is a very good place to bring kids - lots of games for them to play; pool, Fußball, video games, ping-pong.. Beer lovers can explore a wide range of options. Very impressive selection. My word of caution is with the food. Draft Republic could easily disappoint if you like your cuisine to be better than average in such a facility. Their idea of accompanying salad is nothing more than lettuce with a random dressing. That's it. No other vegetation to be found in the mix what-so-ever. Thankfully it's not the usual iceberg lettuce on offer, but it does look a little lonely. The buns enveloping your burger of any variety can be expected to arrive regrettably soggy. The fries are your bog-standard fast-food affair. The only thing done to a greater extent than salt on the fries appears to be the processing involved. The meat is nothing special from a texture and flavor perspective. I prefer to eat before bringing my kid to DR. I would call this a games a beer place, rather than a restaurant - as the food does strike me as being a bit of an after-thought. Atmosphere is alive, vibrant and to some, could easily be challenging from a volume point of view. If you like TVs glaring at you from all angles, you'll not want for much in this department. They have one of the largest TV screens you are likely to see outside of a U2 concert. Service is good. Wait staff are young, energetic and enthusiastic. Bathrooms are clean, small and easy to locate. The overall experience is good fun, and the facility appears to be well run by unfussy staff. Not every kid appears to be aware that the idea of the game ping-pong is to hit the ball so bounces only on the table. For me, part of the charm of this place is watching a ping-pong ball fly past the bridge of your nose as you reach for a beer while seated at a table located around...
Read moreIt's always great when I'm in a different city and I get to try new restaurants. I happened to be in the Carlsbad area and got to try Draft Republic. The food runner, Kyra, and our waiter, Nick L., absolutely went above and beyond to serve our large group of 12. We were fortunate to arrive during happy hour, which allowed us to explore the delicious offerings from their happy hour menu. We almost tried everything on it and divided the food among the whole group.
My attention was really drawn to their outstanding drink specials. My beer enthusiast friends were happy with the 16 oz house beers for just $6 and the 26 oz option for $9, which I've never seen anywhere in SoCal.
We sampled a wide range of dishes, including the mouthwatering beef sliders and sausage sampler, the savory crispy buffalo cauliflower, poke tacos, brussel sprouts, Bavarian pretzel bites, and the chop chop salad. Each meal was well-cooked and flavorful.
The vibe at Draft Republic was warm and friendly, showing an excellent fusion of local charm and contemporary design. They do have lots of TVs playing local sports so this has to be a great spot to hang out on game day. Given the size of our group, the service was very impressive. In addition to ensuring sure our orders were correctly taken and that our eating experience was excellent, Nick L. and Kyra were also patient and attentive.
The vast beer menu provided a wide variety of options, even though I may not be a beer enthusiast myself. Additionally, I was surprised to find that they have a good non-alcoholic selection as well as beer flights for those interested in trying a variety of flavors. I'll definitely go back to Draft Republic the next time I'm in the area after this wonderful experience. It is a must-visit location since it offers amazing food, drinks for my companions, warm service, and a...
Read moreMy wife and I went to the Draft Republic near our home in Carlsbad. If Island Prime was the same distance, we would have been there! We wanted somewhere new to us and good food. Given that it a Cohen family restaurant we were not taking a big risk. It was a quiet night. There was a longish wait because four guys were having a long talk with the host. They were looking at clipboards, waling around, and lots of talking.
When we got up to the counter, I asked what the delay was about, and he said they were signing up to use the golf simulator. I knew I wasn't at Island Prime.
We enjoyed. the musician who was playing guitar and singing. We identified with his songs. I hope he is there next time we come in. Peppered Steak Salad We sat in a booth that good views of a really big TV screen and several small and medium sized. Service was good. Our servers were Kayla & Kayleigh. One was new, and following the other for a week before going out on her own.
We ordered entree salads, they were fresh and really good to eat. My wife had the Peppered Steak Salad. It was free of a lot of things: peanut-free, tree-nut-free, egg-free, shellfish-free, fish-free, soy-free. It had a lot of flavor and she liked it. I had the Blackened Shrimp Chop Chop Salad. The shrimps were excellent. They were hot with interesting flavors, and after mixing with the sweet dressing, they were not in the danger zone.
Neither of us finished our salads. They were huge! We were too full for dessert.
We had a nice meal, the service was good. We'll be going...
