I've been to Brunchies twice in the last 3 months. The first time I ordered a vegetable and egg sauce-like dish that was bland and watery. The coffee was very good. Good service. The second time I ordered an omelette with yogurt and toast. The toast was the best part. I would not order the omelette again or the yogurt. This order normally comes with hash browns. I asked to sub something for them and was told their are no substitutions. So if I wanted something else instead, there would be a charge. I explained my allergy to potatoes and asked the waitress to check into making an exception in this case. We ended up with two waitresses. The first was pleasant and friendly. The replacement was not. I got one refill on their yummy coffee even though my cup was placed near the edge of the table signaling. As we were getting ready to leave, the second waitress then asked if I wanted more coffee. I don't thing my friend got any refills.
The bill was confusing. I was charge for the usual price and the price for the yogurt but not for the coffee. My friend was not charged for her coffee either. Maybe their policy is to not charge for coffee and not give you more than two cups. Who knows. In any case, I do not recommend Brunchies for their...
Read moreThe atmosphere seemed nice, if you were a regular. The food was a good breakfast food, but nothing to write home about... First time visit was today and it started off poorly. "Now Hiring: Prep Cook" sign on the front door. Which to the consumer usually means , "oh mom and pop can't pay a living wage to the employees". But I was pleasantly surprised to see another sign at the host stand, "All members of your party must be present to be seated", or something to that effect. Which to the consumer means "ooh they must be busy" . Nope. Standing in line another guy just walked right by me to get to his table. Ok, special rules for special people I guess. I made a comment that to the guy about the ignoring the sign and the cook shot me the DIRTIEST look. I have to assume its the one of the owners cause if not, I get the first "Now Hiring" sign... I get it, 1 top isn't a priority when you have 4 and 5 tops. But as a first time customer, I was not impressed and kinda felt like I was more of a nuisance. Server and Food were pleasant and great. Kinda wish I coulda tipper more, but they just dropped the check and didn't tell me how to pay, so I just left cash and walked. TL;DR: Good food, moderate price....
Read moreI like Brunchies and have been a regular customer since they first opened. So leaving a bad review is hard but I felt compelled since I have noticed a decline in the service during my last several visits. The last visit was the worst and has me looking for a new breakfast place. I was seated and given a menu and then was ignored for 20 minutes. My server proceded to wait on tables that were seated after me and spent time yacking with apparent friends at a table right next to me while I sat with no coffee and my order not taken. When I finally got up to leave, she actually said "have a nice day". It actually seemed to be intentional. I'm the easiest customer ever and always tip over 20%. I've had this server before and while not the most attentive, I at least got to eat. As I said, I'm pretty easy going and can overlook a lot, but this really made me mad and has ended my patronage of Brunchies.
Update: Tried again and was sorely disappointed. Small portions on all four orders, hashbrowns cooked so hard they were like potato chips and lack luster service. What has gone wrong at Brunchies? We will...
