We are now getting corners cut on cheap ingredients?....It's crazy. Rice and beans are still some of the cheapest foods, and Crazy King is skimpy on those. I think they're a chain that started in Mexico... and the flavors are good and the quality isn't bad. But almost $80 for 5 burritos? That included the modest tip even though it was carry-out, those kids work hard. You can stand there and watch them make your food. Crispy Cali.... not even one full chicken tender? Really? Your price point is so high you have to cut a tender in half length ways to maximize profit? I get you're new, I get times are hard, I get that there are franchise fees.... but this place is just going to fail like every where else that puts profit over product. Stand tall in your product and the profit will come. If your rent is too high for what you're doing, get a food truck and knock it out of the park!!! Seriously, the food tastes pretty good, but dude.... they're just burritos. They shouldn't be almost $20 after tax. This place is good for 1 person to have lunch, other than that...its not good enough for a family night out. There are much better local restaurants that exceed expectations for Mexican grub, and you'll get your food in about the same amount of time.
Part of the reason this review is so negative is because we were excited for this spot, and then it just fizzled. I really wanted this place to be our new burrito spot for a quick, easy meal after school band or sports. Or maybe just a fast meal on a busy night....but that will not be the case. We always try to eat only at local restaurants, but we were hoping this would be the exception to that rule, seeing that there are only a few locations.... and that's dramatically better than Chipotle or Qdoba... but we can't, in good conscience, drop that kind of money when we can go to a relaxed, sit down, locally owned Mexican restaurant and get service and smiles for the same price and same speed.
Unfortunately, I'm not the only one who feels this way either. My friends that have been said they'll probably not go back because it's just too expensive for what you get. We still tell others to go try it, though... Everyone spends their money on how they'd like, which is a wonderful choice we have....I just really hope this economy doesn't wash this place away, but it...
Read moreFirst visit. Wife and I ordered #3 Molida al Chipotle and #4 Tinga de Pollo. Both were Chico size. We added chips and guacamole for + $7.
Atmosphere: the restaurant is clean and inviting. We did carry-out but agreed we would eat in at a future time.
Service was excellent. A minor glitch in our take out order was addressed and corrected immediately. It “capped” off a nice evening!
Chips are exceptional. Not greasy or too thick. I wanted a bit more salt (that I can add as needed) but my wife who wants less salt, loved them.
Guacamole was fresh and delicious, however I would prefer less onion or the use of sweet onion in it. Yellow onions gave it bitterness that was unneeded. More lime juice and perhaps more cilantro would also help it pop.
My wife loved her #4 burrito. The toasted exterior was unexpected, welcome and delicious. The shredded chicken was very tasty and generously added.
My #3 was very good, enjoyable, and loaded with beef. It was also toasted and overall quite good. I do recommend the following modifications: add a bit more beans, cheese and sour cream (and yes, you can scale back the beef a bit!). Your generosity is much appreciated but it is about balance of flavors.
As mentioned before, both burritos were the smaller Chico size but more than enough for us. We both really liked the food. We will go back soon for more. Thank you to the staff for a great meal!
If you enjoy this kind of food I suggest you give...
Read moreStarting right from when we walked in we were very intrigued. The decor was open and bright. The owner was working the counter and talked to each person as they ordered to make sure they were getting what they wanted. We decided to split 2 different burritos to try multiple options. Paul also let my wife try their 3 different drink options, all of them were so good. Paul told us about the combos available that come with chips and a dip of your choice l, we went with queso and guac. Both were delicious. When our food was brought over, which was really fast, we were also brought their three sauces. I am a big fan of hot food, their diablo sauce is so good hot but with a great flavor. Their chipotle salsa was smokey and delicious and their green salsa was tangy and also delicious. We had the bean burrito and the ground beef burrito. Both were huge, and we ordered their chica size, the smaller of the two. Neither skimped on the contents, they were stuffed with protein, not just lettuce like some places. We also tried the churro's and their ice box cake. They were so good. We left out of there stuffed. This is a must return spot for great authentic...
