Classic Cakes — Restaurant in Carmel

Do yourself a favor and book Classic Cakes!! Megan is incredible - our catering company initially said they would provide our cake, but we found out a few months before the wedding that this wasn’t the cake. I was already late to the game when we emailed Megan to set up a tasting - despite their crazy busy schedule, they were able to squeeze us in for a tasting, which was INCREDIBLE! They usually let you try 6 cakes, but I was stuck between 2 chocolate options and Megan let us try both! They give you the cake and filling options to try, so you can mix and match. We decided on 3 different flavors with 3 different fillings, and Megan said that would be no problem. When she asked for design ideas, I only had a loose idea of what I wanted - but there were tons of examples in the bakery, and I pointed to a few I liked. I had a topper I wanted to use, and Megan told me exactly what I would need to do to use it, and she was happy to facilitate it for us. Megan made a sketch of what she was envisioning and it looked like exactly what we wanted - and was IDENTICAL to the cake that was delivered on the day. Everything came out absolutely perfect, and the process was SO easy and stress-free for me on the day of. And last but not least - these cakes are DELICIOUS. I got SO many compliments - you always hear about there being leftover cake after the wedding, but we had no leftovers - people wanted to try everything. Megan also provided a cake box with explicit insturctions on how best to freeze our top tier on it, so our cake was boxed and saved perfectly. I already can’t wait to have more on our first anniversary. Just make sure you book early - Megan provides an incredible and personalized service, so they do book up quickly! We used classic cakes for our wedding in January. Their cake and cupcakes they made for us tasted absolutely amazing! All our guests really enjoyed their products. That being said, our complaints revolve around the owner, who we were in contact with the whole time leading up to the wedding. First, communication with Megan was subpar and unprofessional, and required many follow-up emails on our end to get a response. When we were finalizing numbers to make our payment, we had no response from her for a week. So we sent a follow-up email, and it took another 4 days to receive a response that had incorrect information in it. We corrected her 2 days later due to a holiday and then she responded demanding a payment by the end of that day, even though it was her fault the process took that long. Second, while planning numbers and budget, Megan did not have a very organized system to make it clear. This resulted in us having to do a lot of work on our end to crunch numbers and guess how much we needed along with the total payment. This caused us unnecessary stress and work on our end, when we were supposed to be the clients. Finally, on the day of our wedding, we were informed to place our cake decorations on the table for them to place on the cake when they arrived. We did just that, however, our cake was not decorated correctly, resulting in it looking unfinished. This is frustrating when Megan was given a picture of what the cake was supposed to look like. We do love Classic Cakes' products, but we hope they take this feedback into consideration when working with future clients.

My fiancé and I had seen almost 5 stars on reviews, Beautiful pictures of cakes and a Neat website and decided to go with Classic Cakes for a tasting since we have an upcoming wedding. We drove an hour, extremely excited just to be disappointed with service. I’ve been putting off writing a review as this is my first. But, it was a major let down. With high reviews it could’ve just been a bad day for the ladies but walking in a group of workers sitting in chairs did not greet us, only to be Stared at and we felt judged. The woman who handed us our to-go tasting was better , she explained our to go tasting bag but that’s pretty much it. extremely unwelcoming and rushed when no customers besides us were present during that time. As taste goes, We loved Sweet Cream ( our favorite) as it’s not overly sweet. Great option for those seeking something of different taste but Minimal at the same time. Weren’t too impressed with the other fillings as they didn’t have the one we were looking into most that day or the ones we did receive, didn’t stand out from other cake shops for how glam the website and photos are but Overall the cake flavors itself are good and cake was soft which is a must!
