UPDATE: After a less than impressive previous visit, they reached out to make things right. We came in to try the happy hour in the bar [3:00-5:00 on non-holidays] again and we were extremely pleased.
Our server Diego was attentive and courteous. My wife and daughter's margaritas ($6) both got big thumbs up for flavor and were great values for their sizes.
My daughter ordered the Mini Nachos ($6) with steak ($6), which definitely seemed bigger than "mini". She said it was excellent and would order it again.
My wife and I each had the Shrimp Tostadita ($6). which tasted fantastic. It included 2 hard mostly flat shells each piled with chopped shrimp, fresh pico de gallo, avocado slices, and even a bit of guac. Not realizing how much food the Shrimp Tostadita would be, I also ordered the Tostadita Pescado Capeado ($6). It was the same as the shrimp except it had lightly breaded fillets of fish on each. I would absolutely order each of those items again. They were amazing.
The ONLY negative was that some of our chips were a tad soggy with what I could only assume was oil. However, combining chips and salsa with everything else we ordered at those price points pretty much locks in future happy hour visits from this family. An awesome dining experience.
Ate at high top in bar, which we preferred to the regular dining area as it seemed a bit more congested than our space. Our table was right against the window, so nice view, but you could also feel like you're on display to the outside if you are looking to avoid that.
Chips were salty, but good. Provided 2 different salsas. Red was good, but nothing special. It was not chunky and some might think it overly mild. Green was really good with a little kick added. to it. I could eat an entire jar of it with chips and be happy.
Never had sopes before, but very much enjoyed them. Seemed like a thicker fresh tortilla for a base with a blend of veggies, salsa, and cheese on top. Would consider ordering them again. Rice on side was OK. Wife did chile relleno, which was tasty and well prepared. She said she would definitely order it again. Liked her sides of rice and black beans, but thought the black beans were better. She also had a skinny spicy margarita, but said she would not get it again. Thought it tasted fine, but was primarily ice and not worth its price tag.
Most of menu is more expensive than typical mexican fare, but food did seem better than typical mexican fare. Service was fine, no problems but not necessarily...
Read moreThis is the first time I have ever posted a negative review. I love the food and service at Los Arroyos. However, have had issues recently obtaining outside seating with the virus. Last night when I asked to see the manager to complain he did not apologize and instead was rude and even denied the situations we told him about could have occurred. He acted like he thought we were both lying. He made it clear he didn't care whether he had our business or not because he had a full house. We had to leave there without eating. I don't think that the manager of a business should treat good customers like that. The first time we had no problem reserving and obtaining outdoor seating. My friend is in a high risk group so we can't eat inside. Next time we had reservations for outdoor seating at 6:00, however, when we got there, there was none. We waited for 15 minutes after our reservation time and still no outside seating. They had a very large party outside taking up almost half of the area just starting to eat that I thought had probably been given priority over our smaller reservation. We called from the parking lot and canceled because we did not want to go inside. This week I called and was told we could not make reservations for outdoor seating, it was first come first serve. So my friend and I both had to leave work early to be there by 5:30, hoping we could get a table. There was plenty of outdoor vacant seating at 5:30. However, when we sat down we were told the tables were all reserved. That is when I asked to speak to the manager to explain I had been told we could not make...
Read moreIn this review I will compare to your traditional Mexican restaurant- Definitely ~upscale Mexican food which was super tasty, fresh and service was great. Definitely a bit pricey. Drink selection and mixes were awesome. You won’t find the portions or as many options as your traditional place. We didn’t have a reservation on a Friday at 6:30 and got right in, but if you don’t want to take any chances, I’d probably make one on the weekend for dinner. It’s a dealbreaker for me when upscale Mexican places charge for chips & salsa. This place did not. My pozole was super great & there was tons leftover. They boxed it for me in soup containers which I thought was impressive because I thought they would put it in a box and I wouldn’t get the broth. Alas, very good, but nothing stand out that makes me think the prices are warranted. I would not purposely choose this place over a traditional joint, but I think it depends on the experience you want. They have weather permitting outdoor seating, bar seating & then restaurant. I wouldn’t necessarily recommend this place to someone but wouldn’t tell them not to go if that...
