I'm giving a star for our waitress and a star for the food, since she was great and the food was delicious. That's where the positives ended for me though. We got there maybe 45 minutes before closing and the host took us straight to the most crowded corner of the restaurant--I tried asking if we could sit in the other section that was wide open and he said something about not being able to seat people "in the back" anymore (I can only guess because it was within a certain range of closing time? The restaurant isn't that big, so this was confusing). We sat there for a few minutes and between being surrounded by other patrons and the overly loud music I was feeling close to a panic attack, so when our waitress came we asked her and she was happy to move us to a less crowded area.
That made things a little better, but no matter where you sat, there was a Bose speaker nearly right above you and the music was WAY too loud. Listening to Bon Jovi yell/scream "lay your hands on me" over and over again made me feel like taking him up on it. We eventually asked our waitress if the music could be turned down and it got better for maybe 5-10 minutes, but then I'm guessing it turned back up automatically. This really ruined what we had hoped would be a nice relaxing brunch experience.
Finally, the wait time for our food was really long. Again, we got there towards the end of their day so they weren't busy, but it still took at least 20-30 minutes for our food to come out. It was hot, and very good, but not worth enduring the blaring music for that long to eat it.
Oh, and their espresso machine was broken. Not a good business proposition when there's a...
Read moreMost reviews start off with the business and food and somewhere down the line service gets mentioned. Today is going to be different. SERVICE: Scott C. was amazing! I'd have to say our favorite server we have had in many years! I do a lot of reviews and we eat out a lot and can't even begin to tell you what a gem this place has in this guy! Very engaging and personable. He has a great sense of humor and a gift for knowing his audience and makes everyone feel welcome. I watched and listened and he was the same way with all his tables. He knew when to turn it up and when to turn it down. He truly connects with customers of all ages. Nicely done, Scott! You made an already positive experience even better. Tip this guy well. He totally deserves it and earns it. Now the food. Delicious home cooking. I had the country fried steak, fried potatoes, 2 eggs, and toast. All I can say is WOW! The breading was superb and blended nicely with the gravy. My wife had 4 very large strips of bacon, eggs, seasoned potatoes, and toast. She was overwhelmed with the portion size. Definitely needed a box. Our daughter had a monster stack of pancakes and after eating a few of my potatoes decided she wanted a side for herself. What an amazing place with an incredible server...
Read moreIn town for the April, 2024 eclipse, we decided to head to Wild Eggs for breakfast. We've been to several in the Louisville area before so it was a known commodity and it was a short walk from our hotel.
We were seated immediately (it was a Monday, so it wasn't packed) and sat quite a while before we were greeted (they appeared to be somewhat short staffed). No matter, because we were with our best friends from Albuquerque.
A couple cups of coffee later and we ordered our meals. I'm a big fan of Wild Eggs' Western Omelet, so that was an easy choice for me. Food delivery was a bit long (about 20 minutes), but was delivered mostly hot. My toast wasn't warm enough to melt butter.
The staff that was there was hustling taking care of tables and getting food. Because they appeared to be a little light on personnel tables were left for a while after emptied.
It's odd to visit a Wild Eggs that isn't slammed. They can be very loud and hectic (I don't know that that they've ever heard of acoustic tiles), so this visit was surprisingly NOT loud and hectic. That was a nice change.
It was a pleasant enough visit, especially given we were there with our best friends. If we find ourselves in Carmel we'll definitely...
