The review is more for the store credit card company, Comenity, but a portion will regard this location and its employees. On 07/14/17 I signed up for a Meijer store credit card and in the initial email I received was advised I could use a temporary shopping pass until my physical card arrived. The first time I used the temporary pass there was not a bump or issue with completing the steps needed. During the process the system requires myself and the cashier to confirm the address on file. The address that appeared was correct and with an apartment number. A week later I still did not receive the card and went to Meijer, did my regular weekly shopping and when the cashier finished ringing my items, I requested to use the temporary pass because I had not received a physical card. The cashier looked at me like I had blown her mind with the statement. She advised she didn't know what that was and couldn't do that. I asked if she could have someone come over and assist, to which she replied there was no one around to help her. I used my debit card and paid for my items. I went to the customer service desk and asked if the items I purchased could be moved from my debit card to the Meijer credit card. The male at the customer service desk advised they could, but would need to return all the items and rescan each item. I advised if he didn't mind doing that I would greatly appreciate this. He did just that and was done within a few minutes. Weeks later I receive an email that the company received returned mail and to log into my account to update my address. First, to log into an account one needs to have a physical card in hand to register. Second, there was no phone number listed for the company. After searching through Google, I found a customer service number and gave it a ring. The female who answered, Angie, was completely unhelpful and unfriendly. She states that I forgot to add my apartment number when I initially signed up. This statement was repeated numerous times to me, I'm assuming to make her feel better about herself. I disagreed because I used the shopping pass prior and the apartment number was listed. Finally, Angie states that she can update my address, 'because you left out your apartment number' and resend the welcome information. I asked if this welcome information has the physical card since I have yet to receive it. She then questioned why I didn't get the card. I ignored the question and asked if the card could be resent. Angie advised it would be a standard 7-10 business days before my card would arrive. I received no sliver of empathy, no glimmer of compassion. Instead I was told again, 'you forgot to enter your apartment number.' If and when I do receive my physical card I will pay off what I used and cut the card up. I'll update once I receive the physical card for reference how long it took. Meijer isn't a great store to shop at anyway. If you're an mPerks member you receive $2 for every $100 spent, which is only a 0.02% return. Meijer wants its customer to believe this is a savings and a reason to shop for all one's needs only at their stores. I think its time I take all of my...
Read moreI agree with the other reviewers that the service at this store has really gone downhill! I went to the Carmel Meijer to return a toy that my mother purchased my son for his birthday. She lost the receipt but I told her not to worry about it as Meijer is usually great with returns. I've spent hundreds of dollars a week at Meijer. It is a very convenient location for me and I frequent it several times a week on my lunch breaks. The lady behind the counter, upon entering my drivers license info, said she couldn't take it back because I was told in December that I wouldn't be allowed to do another return without receipt. I told her that is absolutely not true - I think I would remember being told that! I did make a return in December but was told no such thing - hence me telling my mother that it wouldn't be a problem. I figured I would get store credit which was fine by me since I shop so much there. Well no more! My plan was to do some shopping after making the return, but I was so upset by being accused of lying, that I've decided that I will be doing my shopping elsewhere. I write this from the Kroger parking lot, in fact. And shopping there was an amazingly pleasant experience with very similar prices. Bye Meijer - sorry you will be losing my business over a silly toy! You might want to train your Customer Service staff at your Carmel store to be a little friendlier and not accuse frequent customers of lying (I've also had experience with this particular lady when I've shipped packages from there and she's not the most pleasant to deal...
Read moreWe were in town with some friends who had never been to Meijer before for the Great Eclipse of 2024. Being from Michigan and proud to have shopped at Meijer for probably 40 years, I had to introduce or friends to Meijer.
Since the eclipse was still several hours away, we decided we needed some snackery to while away the afternoon, waiting for The Great Darkness. This Meijer was just down the road from hour hotel, so it was easy.
We took great delight in showing Meijer off to our friends from Albuquerque. We walked them through every department. Shoes. Grocery. Deli. Bakery. Pets. Automotive. Hardware. You get the idea. They were rightfully WOW'd by everything.
To the snackery stuffs we went, grabbing a variety pack of chips (mandatorily, Doritos® and Dr Pepper®), some beef jerky, and some nuts.
While we didn't have any staff engagement while we were here, we were glad to see personnel stocking shelves and being very present. If we needed help we wouldn't have had to go very far.
This Meijer layout is what I've come to call the New Generation. Wider aisle and greatly differently arranged than the Meijer of olde. After decades I like to see that Meijer doesn't get stale and frequently updates their locations. I also have to tout the their Frederik's line of food items.
In the unlikely event we find ourselves in Carmel again, I know where there's an awesome Meijer. And our friends from...
