This establishment has become a Wilmington NC staple for our family. No matter the location, you know what you are getting. Fresh, tasty, and reasonable. You can't go wrong with the rolls, tostada, or enchiladas. Tonight was a soft opening for the new location in Carolina Beach, and I tried the Island shrimp wrap. Something new for a new venue. Shrimp cooked to perfection, and everything was fresh. Love the house picante. This restaurant is beautiful. Can't wait to spend some nights around the fire pit on the very large outdoor seating area. Our bartender Ayla was very helpful and pleasant. For all you looking for a great meal if you are local or just visiting you can't go wrong. Not tourist food.

K38 Baja Grill serves up a unique spin on Mexican cuisine, but it may not satisfy traditional cravings. The food was decent but leaned bland, missing the bold flavors I expect from Mexican fare. If you're in the mood for classic Mexican, you might look elsewhere. Service was attentive despite the bustling atmosphere. Indoor seating felt warm and stuffy with no breeze, as doors and large bar windows stayed open, letting air flow mainly outside. Outdoor seating offers a cooler experience but lacks the cozy vibe. Overall, a mixed bag depending on your preferences.

We came in for the invite only soft opening and it is definitely K38 in a much nicer bougie upscale atmosphere! There is a soft opening on May 28th but the grand opening will be May 3rd in time for Cinco de Mayo weekend fun! Our waitress Olivia was fantastic as she was very attentive (but not annoying in the least) and everything came out as delicious as we hoped. We will be back time and time again for sure and just hope we can get back in when we want because everyone is going to love this spot!!!

I was excited when I saw the new K38 open in Carolina Beach because I always go to the one on Oleander frequently and assumed this one would be as good. Though the server was pleasant enough he was too busy serving and bussing the other tables around us to refill drinks when needed and when we needed some items he was hard to get a hold of so we had to ask another server to help. I'd asked for more salsa for the chips which never showed up, the chips ran out as it was Saturday night and we had to wait a bit for our food order, one of our drinks ran out, I needed more napkins, and sour cream and had to wait until nearly finished to get these. So far as the food goes, the chicken chimichanga is what was missing the sour cream which it desparately needed. It was overfried and almost too dry to eat. The fajati showed up looking beautiful and sizzling, but lacked any flavor as if it hadn't been seasoned or marinated. I was so dissappointed because the K38 on Oleander is always so good and this location was a let down. The location itself is nice and the atmosphere is good just needs a better cook and perhaps a bus person to free up the server. I also hate that when you pay they have the hand held computer device in the hand of the server to pay with your card, as the server waits for you to pay and tip. I made him wait while I figured out the tip and checked what was on the receipt. I suppose this is quicker for them but I'm not going to be rushed as I decide what kind of tip I'm giving for the poor service. I'll probably give it one more try as the manager was kind enough to give a $10. coupon to do so, but otherwise it's off my list of go to...

My mom and I went to this location for the 1st time last night and we can not stop talking about what a fantastic experience we had. We have been going to K38’s for years and this one by far just might be our favorite! We walked into a lovely open air dinning room bright and airy and were greeted by a warm, welcoming hostess. We ask for a low booth and she accommodated us right away. After saying hello to familiar faces we sat in the best seat in the house. Our server Paxton was a delight offering us multiple drinks options and answering all of our questions. I had a Mezcal drink and my mom had the frozen Watermelon margarita. The drinks we satisfying and refreshingly full of flavor. The tuna tacos were a highlight and the guacamole was some of the best we had! We definitely can’t wait to dine there again as soon...

As a local here to Carolina Beach, I take pride in going out and eating what this town has to offer. Im always excited and willing to support local businesses new and old. This is my first trip to K38 since its arrival in CB. From what I experienced, this is basically a tourist trap. The food is bland, the servings are small and the price is high. The salsa taste basically like ketchup. The servings for the food are very small in comparison to the other Mexican restaurants on the island. The "Mexican rice" is white rice... I tasted no seasoning to make it any different. I paid $88 for 2 entries, salsa, quseo, and a side of rice. I heard good things when they were in Wilmington. I was very disappointed when I tried them out finally in Carolina Beach. Needless to say, this will be the last time I give...
