Went here because the reviews were so good. My husband got the wings & blue cheese slaw. They were very tasty!
I got the Paella & collard greens. Collard greens were also tasty, but unfortunately the paella was not.
I’m not one to complain about food, especially to the point of not finishing, but it just wasn’t up to par with the rest of our meal.
I would define it more of a stew than a traditional paella due to the tomato/broth being poured over rice rather than baked into, but that wasn’t the main issue. The shrimp were overcooked, the rice was undercooked & also a little mushy, and out of the 6/7 clam shells I only got meat from 4 of them. I am usually one to clean my plate, but it just wasn’t very good, I couldn’t finish it.
I talked to our server & pointed out the issues. She said she understood and asked if I wanted anything else. I said no, she took the plate alway, and said she would take it off our bill. However, about 5 minutes later the manager came over and said “so I’m not going to take it off your bill because it was cooked exactly how it should be.” She proceeded to tell me it’s just my pallet thinking the shrimp was overdone (I don’t even know what to make of that. I work in a restaurant and know exactly how shrimp should be cooked) and that I ate most of it (I did not. There was probably half left). We asked her if we could at least get the leftovers back if we had to pay full price and she said she couldn’t do that due to health code. Ok, understandable, but now I didn’t eat most of my meal, we don’t have any left overs, and now we have to pay for it fully… We explained that our server had already said it would be taken off and the manager went “oh I didn’t know that. Ok, against my better judgment I will take it off.” And left.
I understand the frustration of having someone not like your food, but to blame the customer’s pallet, take away their plate & leftovers, & then still expect them pay for it fully is ridiculous.
Our server was super nice though & understanding. I just wouldn’t go back due to...
Read moreWe got to this place as a group of 6 people. It was over that 50 min till we got food on our table. (Not worth to wait) I feel bad writing this review, because I heard the owner is a very good person. I wish the service became better though! Am I mean the actual service, cause to say “sorry it took so long”, “I will take care of you guys” with a smile it is sweet. But to forget the order…. Hm. So I asked dressing on a side, but got my Caesar floating in that sauce. We had to ask about straws. Table was sticky, which is one of the main reasons why I am sharing this review! I was wearing really nice long sleeve dress and I felt like in a cheap random fast food greasy place. The menu looked good though. And a waiting area with a couches and a bar. I’ve got special, scallops with a crab cake. I wanted to substitute the scallops, but our server said they usually don’t do that but I will ask for you(she was nice saying that) But! She never got back with an answer and just brought the crab cake with the scallops. I was glad in the end coz scallops were good, and the crab cake was not my favorite at all! Also, not very fresh bathroom. I get it, it was dinner time, the end of the day. However, it feels like the owner doesn’t want to hire more people, as he can’t deal with all at once, obviously. Grateful for that experience. Don’t dress up for this place. My cousin said the fries were good! Oh, and I had a bite of ribs from my gather in law. Ribs...
Read moreVisited this location for the first time during a weekend visit to Carolina Beach. It was my first and last time. Scott at the bar could use a lesson in customer service. I went in for a take out order and was sent to the bar. Before even approaching me he appeared to have an attitude and responded that he didn't think they were accepting carry out orders. After confirming they actually were, he came back with a look of agitation. Not sure if it was because I was the only African American in the establishment or if it was because I was the only person wearing a mask. Neither were acceptable reasons for the treatment. Upon waiting for my order I was asked by Scott after whispering to a female coworker to allow a Caucasian couple to have the seat that I had although there were 2 seats at the end of the bar. This treatment was totally unacceptable. I assume this is normal behavior and should be addressed. When my order was finally ready it was presented with a "HERE YOU GO" and no "THANK YOU" or form of appreciation. My money spends exactly the same as any other person in that restaurant. I will ensure that any friends or family visiting the area refrain from spending money at this establishment. I will definitely spend my money at a location that appreciates my business when in the area...
