I visited the restaurant in Ja Holla in California a few years ago and thought it was just alright. When I saw this open in Texas, I decided to give it another chance, hoping it might be different from the location I tried in California. Unfortunately, my experience was the same—if not worse.

For starters, I tried the chicken character bun. With or without soy sauce, it wasn’t savory at all. Then we ordered two ramen dishes: High Noon (spicy chicken broth) and Haru Ramen (classic tonkotsu). The High Noon was supposed to be the spiciest, but since I have a high tolerance for spice, it wasn’t hot enough for me, though it did have a nice kick. Despite the spice level, the broth was flavorful, and I really enjoyed it. On the other hand, the Haru broth was a major disappointment. I’ve never had Japanese ramen (broth) that was so bland. It also had a weird,  metallica smell?? So I had to mix in some of the High Noon broth just to finish it.

As you can see in the picture, the slices of pork look dry - and they were definitely dry! It came with 3 slices, but I only ate ate 1.

The only standout for me was the noodles—they were soft and chewy. As for the price, I thought it was overpriced. It's almost $9 for two small buns. Overall, it's worth trying their popular character buns (they’re Instagram-worthy) and the ramen, but I wouldn’t return, as there are better ramen spots out there.

Total: $53.75 (pretax) = $8.95 (Character buns), $15.85 (Haru), $15.95 (High Noon), $5 (Calpico), $8...

We really wanted to like this place when we came in for a date night. Unfortunately, it fell flat the more food we tried.

We first tried one of their iconic buns and went for the chicken one. I feel overall this was decent, though I couldn’t detect any cheese as stated on the menu. I also found the yuzu sauce to be too overpowering. And at $9 for only two, you could find a better deal for standard looking buns at literally any dim sum place in North Dallas.

I got the Crispy Chickin and bf got the Flying Pig. For me, I did like the chicken on the top but my ramen fell very flat. It was practically like having unseasoned toppings in hot water. There was no flavor at all. We noticed later that maybe there was some garlic or daishi or SOMETHING with flavor in the bottom middle of my bowl that may just not have been mixed in. Not sure. But I’ve been to Japan + had many ramen here in the DFW area, and unfortunately this was some of the worst.

Bf said about his ramen that he was heavily disappointed for the price that his toppings were so minimal: just brussel sprouts and chashu, seemingly. I enjoy chashu a lot and tasted some and it didn’t even taste like chashu? No char and bland. He also noted that his was bland but mine was worse.

I’ll give some positives to the noodle texture and the chicken cutlet mine came with, but overall found my food pretty mediocre. Which is sad because the place is adorable, I love the decor and the concept of the buns.

I don’t really think we...

I wanted to treat out my fiancĂ©e for a nice dinner so we decided to come here(our first time) . We saw plenty of tiktoks raving about the buns. Although they are very cute it’s not very appetizing. We tried it with soy sauce and without but there was not much of a difference. When we walked in the music was blaring loud but as twenty year olds we didn’t mind
. Our server was super sweet at first. Two older women came in after us and our server seemed to forget we were there. We didn’t mind because we were enjoying each others presence. She only came one time to give us refills for drinks that were 1/3 finished. Our bill came out to $59.38 for two people. I didn’t tip as the food was very pricey and the service wasnt anything amazing. The server then proceeded to asked me why I didn’t finish all the food . I just told her I was full because I didn’t want to be rude. She then asked me why I didn’t tip her and said I had visit 3 times before. I told her it was our first and maybe she’s mistaken us for someone else. She continued to tell me and scolded me over not tipping her. I do not appreciate this service and honestly made the experience horrible. The food was decent enough but the service made it horrible. I AM NOT COMING BACK!!! p.s. girlies with anxiety don’t...
