Edit to my original review and rating. Now 1 star. I called this afternoon around 12:30 to place a to go order. Guy that answered the phone and took my order was very polite and professional. After I finished, he said he was ready to take my card #. Told him I will pay when I pick it up, like the last 4 or 5 times I have ordered from there. He said I had to pay first. Told him I was paying cash. He said once I arrive and pay, then he can make my order. He said it was the new policy from the owner.
I told him to cancel the order and I went to Wendy's instead. This new policy defeats the purpose of calling ahead and having the order ready when you get there. I do not blame the guy on the phone at all. He even wished me a good day as we ended the call. I kind of feel sorry for him if he has to go through this often.
Don't know what happened to cause the owner to implement this new policy. But like I say, it defeats the purpose if you are in a hurry and call ahead. The food there is great, service has always been top notch and all the employees friendly. But if I don't want to give my card # over the phone or if I am am paying cash, this policy doesn't work for me.
It has happened before where someone gave a card # including the security code # over the phone, the employee is writing it down on a piece of paper, then enters the card info into their system and slips the piece of paper in their pocket. Not saying he would have done that nor have I ever had any kind of problem with S&S. But I would rather be proactive than reactive and smart about how I give out my credit card details.
Wife and i just finished a carry out order. Needless to say, we wil be back. I had the Meat Texas Pepper with fries and she had the Chicken Pepper with fries and a soda. Very generous portions and reasonably priced. Food tasted great. Nice little kick to the sandwiches. The young guy and girl at the front counter were very friendly, quick and double checked the finished order to ensure every thing was right. (They were doing this while dealing with a grumpy old man who was being unreasonable. Nothing they did or said was going to please the guy even when the Manager/Owner tried to appease the man.) Restaurant was very clean, condiments well stocked and the employees and Manager/Owner were just really nice. Food was still piping hot when we got home. Definitely...
Read moreWe were at S&S in Carrollton last Friday, September 8th. We placed our order at 8:50PM for dine in and also had couple of items to-go. We were told 20 min to get our food. After 30 min of waiting I was told the food is coming in 5 min. The guy/chef came out and called me and gave me my to-go order...when I asked what happened to my dine in order he said that was already sent 10 min ago. I told him that I never received if, so he got mad and called the other guy/cashier who took our order. The cashier said he already served the order, but I didn't get it, then he went and checked with a couple of college students who were eating and realized that the cashier gave them our order and these students ate it anyway and were laughing about it. The chef was very furious at the cashier and went back to make us or order. When we received our food it was 10:00PM and they were about to close the doors. This was a really bad experience, love the food, but they don't know how to manage a restaurant. No one apologized for what happened, the cashier just gave the food to me and ran to the back. Pretty sad. Not sure if I will go there again. They should know that you just can't have only 2 people on Friday night running the business. I saw a few Uber Drivers also get frustrated with them because they had to wait a while before they received their orders also. If these owners/managers can't run this business then they shouldn't be in the...
Read moreMy normal philly cheesesteak place was closed for the day and I've driven by here dozens of times so I figured I'd place an order and see what they had to offer.
Food was piping hot fresh when I got it, but for me that's really about where it stopped.
First I got out were the fries, which were soggy out the box and it didn't seem like they had their own flavor, just seasoning haphazardly scattered on top.
The cheesesteak itself was a mix of good n bad. Fresh and hot, like I said, but the bread was almost as soggy as the fries and it fell apart the moment I tried to pick it up. I spent more time trying to put it back together so I could eat it than anything else. As for the taste itself, it was pretty decent but nothing outright phenomenal. I had the signature cheesesteak without mushrooms. All the other ingredients were there, but it was more like they were mashed and merged together into something that was then poured onto the buns. No real "individual" flavors there to enjoy.
I've been looking over these other reviews and I'm seeing a lot of high praise, which bums me even more since I found my own food to be so lacking. I'd love to give this place a second go and see if my experience would be better, but that's a pretty unappetizing thought.
I'll be sticking with Fred's Downtown Philly 5 minutes away and reminding my stomach that it can only crave it on...
