I was sorely disappointed today and my entire spirit was grossly vexed. For starters, we ( my husband and sister) were visiting from Atlanta, Georgia, had a taste for something different so we decided why not, let’s give this place a try. Once inside the building, there is a sign that reads, “PLEASE WAIT TO BE SEATED.” Needless to say, no one ever addressed us waiting to be seated so my husband walked up to the bar and asked the lady behind the bar could we seat ourselves and she said yes, how many is in your party? He responded, three and walked away. We got to our table and after about 5 mins a waitress came and took our drink orders. When she brought back the drinks, my husband went ahead and placed our orders because it didn’t seem like we were going to get GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE … which should have been our second indicator to LEAVE but we gave them an opportunity to get it right. So while waiting on our food we had to ask for a second round of drinks and my drink had a bug in it. Of course I brought it to the attention of the waitress, not knowing she was the supervisor at that time and all she did was apologize, agreed that it was a bug and had the audacity to ask if I wanted another one. Boldly I said no and you can cancel my food order as well and she said ok. OK? Ok? Ok? Who says ok, your customer just found a bug in her drink and all you can say is okay. I asked another waitress for the manager who said she didn’t know if the manager was there or not but that the supervisor was. All this time we were being served by the supervisor and when she brought the bill to the table, do you know this woman had the audacity to charge me for the drink that I sent back with the bug in it. PAY ATTENTION. I truly don’t think this restaurant deserves any star today. I definitely would have desired to see better customer service extended to us since we took the time out to patronage your business but no worries, we won’t be giving any positive reviews or referrals. Matter of fact, I will discourage as many people connected to me within this area to REFRAIN from spending their coins there … not because of the bug in my drink (because let’s face it, even the best restaurants have something going on in the kitchens that we don’t see and are most likely unfavorable) but it was the poor way she (the supervisor on duty) handled it. My drink honestly should have been free and at least 1/2 off on my food or something. She didn’t offer any perks and didn’t care that I was dissatisfied or unhappy. But to each his own. I pray that my experience is not yours. And the beef patties my sister ordered was extremely dry and flaky, probably old. My husband was hungry so he was like, “I still want my oxtails … he said they were alright but nothing to give...
Read moreI've been wanting to try this place ever since I moved to the area a few years back. I finally got to go with some friends last Thursday (08/24/17) and I could barely contain my excitement as I've heard nothing but great things. We arrived and had to wait for a few moments to be seated but nothing serious. There was about 10 people already dining with two at the bar. The ambiance was dark but comforting. The waitress appeared bothered that we were there but I wasn't deterred. We ordered their specialty mango margarita and I ordered the Curry Shrimp. It took about 15 minutes before we got the drinks. It didn't taste like a margarita or anything similar to mango. After 30 minutes had passed, I finally received my food but it was Curry Chicken. I had to literally stopped the waitress from passing me to address the mix-up. She blamed me for giving her the wrong order even after my friends informed her that I said Shrimp. She caught an attitude then took the plate back to the kitchen. I didn't receive the Curry Shrimp for an additional 20 minutes. The waitress didn't apologize or asked if everything was ok. She just dropped off and left. I had never had Curry Shrimp before but I was overly ecstatic to try. Sadly, it was spicy but held no favor. As me and my friends chatted, the waitress told us that they were closed. We didn't know that they closed at 9pm as other people were still dining as well. We paid for our meal and as we were packing up to go, she rudely told her to leave as they were closed. I guess we weren't moving fast enough. We immediately got up to leave but my friend had to use the restroom which the waitress just rolled her eyes. She appeared to be having a bad day but as paying customers, we didn't deserve her rudeness. I had such high hopes for this place but I must say that I was unimpressed with the food, cocktail, and service. With much disappointment, I will not be returning...
Read moreIt was my husband and mine's first time visiting this restaurant and we already can't wait to go back! The service is excellent! We went for lunch during a weekday and we were seated right away. Our server, Sasha, greeted us as soon as we arrived, provided us with the drink menu and gave us some time to look at the lunch menu and decide what we wanted. Their drink menu is INCREDIBLE - a book in itself it has so many options! I had the hardest time deciding what I wanted and asked Sasha for her recommendation. I'm always looking for something strong, but not too sweet, and she recommended the Flaming Hurricane and it was perfect! Not too much ice to water it down so I only needed one drink to get the feeling I was looking for ;-). My husband and I decided to order the platter as an appetizer and got the jerk wings, beef patty and fried plantains. They were all absolutely amazing - perfect seasoning without being greasy or too saucy.
I would absolutely recommended going during lunch time. Their meals come with two sides so you get more bang for your buck. I was in the mood to be adventurous so I got the goat curry with spinach and rice and beans. The sides were outstanding - I really enjoyed the spinach. The goat curry had a great flavor (my husband will order it when he returns), but it was a tiny bit too salty for me. It did not stop me from eating it all though...lol. My husband wanted to try a variety of options so he got the 3 meat platter with jerk chicken, brown stewed chicken and fish fillet. He enjoyed everything on his plate. I was very impressed with the authentic ambiance inside the restaurant and our server, Sasha, was so pleasant, helpful and patience. If you enjoy Jamaican food you CANNOT go wrong but heading to The...
