Boomers BBQ and Catering — Restaurant in Carthage

Was extremely disappointed I was so excited about eating some where I've never ate before first off there was no high chairs and I played $20 for two adult meals and one kids meal me and my husband got the nachos we got brisket very plain only shredded cheese and sour cream plus extremely stale chips and the kids meal was $6 I got chicken chunks and waffle fries they litterly got 5 little chicken balls and 3 waffle fries to share redicules atleadt u could of gave five waffle fries! I never complain my husband kept wanting to say something and a girl came to our table and she said sorry I over heard you talking my nachos were super gross and stale to so we gave the food back and when my husband asked for a refund the girl said I can redo the nachos we declined because I'm pretty sure all the chips were stale and she tried denying that other ppl were bringing there food back up for something you are going to call loaded nachos at least offer five topping with the meat and chips not just sour cream and shredded cheese it drives me nuts all these places saleing Frito pie or nachos no body wants shredded cheese!!!!! We want nacho cheese!!!!!! Especially for $7 nachos! That come with no drink!? Reminds me to I drank my kids drink because there 2 and aren't allowed soda was so full of ice I litterly took 3 gulps and it was gone the only thing I appreciate of boomers is how respectful they were about giving us a refund and apologizing they are the first restraint I've had be nice about there mistake brisket and sauce was amazing waffle fries were awesome if you guys can just fix the portions and some stuff not plane and stale I'd gladly come bk when I got out of the car to walk in your restraint my mouth watered just smelling...

When I try someplace new I get a good mix of their offerings. So I ordered the 3 meat plate with brisket, pulled pork and a hot link and ordered nachos. For sides I ordered twice baked potatoe, coleslaw and onion rings. For the record, we did get our food through the drive thru so food condition could have been impacted by the 10 min drive home.

The coleslaw tasted alot like the coleslaw you get in the big tub from Sam's, not kidding. Crunchy cabbage and very wet best described the slaw. Onion rings were soggy and had no bite or crunch. Twice baked potatoe was okay but compared to the other sides, it didn't take much to impress.

Let's talk the main items. Brisket looked like it came off a usda choice brisket at best. Tight muscle fiber with no striation in the meat. There was no bark and no flavor to the brisket. For the pulled pork, it was dry and again no flavor, texture resembled meat that had been shredded by machine, not by hand. The worst was the hot link, while it was flavored well with the right amount of kick for a hot link, the texture was very bad. The filling was too lose inside the casing so when biting I got an overwhelming feeling of disgust; It was mushy and squishy. The nachos, we didn't even attempt to eat I wish I took a picture so you could see.

Now, I didn't expect to get bbq that would rival Jack Stacks or Gates but I wasn't expecting something that resembled bbq from a concession stand at a little league park.

Bad day, maybe. Maybe it's usually good but if the quality can be so inconsistent, you have to be concerned with kitchen prep and conditions.

Have been to Carthage a dozen or so times over the last few years and even though I knew of this place it was already closed on these visits to Carthage. Got lucky and managed to hit a lunch time visit, about 11:50 a.m. early week day. First, I've been a die hard Sooner fan for 55 years. The memorabilia displayed here, some would be something I'd add to my collection, was cool. Second, now the food; I was pleasantly surprised on how good it is. It's the real deal for sure. Staff were spot on friendly. Getting the food out to our table of 3 probably took longer than it should've. Boomers was busy, but by no means swamped with a lunch crowd. Kinda pricy but certainly got more than enough to eat for all 3 of us. The inside could've been a bit cleaner. Our table was kinda sticky and cramped. Meaning I'm of average size, 6' about 220 and the table was right up to my waist with little leg room. Flies were the issue, but not large amounts. One is an annoyance anywhere and we seemed to have several buzzing our table. The rating I gave 3 out of 5 stars is a mid range 3. Rarely is any place gonna be a 5 star joint. It would have to be very memorable to achieve that. Bayou's in Monett, MO is one of those memorable joints.Would I return to Boomers BBQ? Yes. Am I anxiously wanting to return, no.
