This place was by far the worst Chinese place we've ever been to. On our way back from a long day exploring at Mt St. Helens, all our picky kiddos wanted to eat was plain rice. So we close this place, rather than driving further into Longview, but apparently that was a huge mistake on our part. We arrived and the was one table occupied, and one person at the counter planning a to-go order. We were seated after he finished, and the hostess informed us that it would be 25-30 minutes before we got food. We didn't mind waiting, and told her so. We placed our order, and 10 minutes later my husband and I got our waters, no sign of our kid's drinks. 15 minutes later, she came back and told us they were out of steamed rice. I don't know how a Chinese restuarant runs out of steamed rice, but they did. We were mortified. After already 35 minutes of waiting, we decided to come back for the mains, and we would make up our own rice at camp. So 25 minutes later (because she said it would take that much longer) my husband returned with our mains. My Veggie Delight was bland sauce poured over frozen bagged veggies, and his General Tso's chicken was nothing short of a disaster. The dish consisted of small, fatty lumps of thigh meat, coated far too thickly with breading (at least 1/2"), which was tossed in a watered-down sweet-and-sour sauce mixed with Siracha, so thickly that the batter was rendered soggy. It was almost completely inedible. To add insult to injury, we were still charged full price for dishes that came with no rice, and they...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirst off, I want to say that even wearing a face mask, the restaurant had a strong odor of urine, and I could see that it was messy, so that wasnāt the best way to begin my first-time experience here.
I ordered a lunch portion of broccoli beef, which comes with fried rice (steamed rice wasnāt offered, and I was unaware it was even served with the lunch portion because it didnāt state that on their menu). The broccoli beef was ok, but the āspring rollā was a big, greasy egg roll, filled with cabbage, sooo unappetizing.. The fried rice is actually brown from whatever sauce or seasoning they add, which is actually very over-seasoned, and filled with peas. Iām not a huge fan of peas, but happy for some in my fried rice. But, when thereās so much it takes over the flavors of the over-seasoned rice, well thatās not appealing to me, so I ended up picking out the peas. Had I known my lunch came with rice, I wouldnāt have ordered an entree of fried rice, which was pretty much the same rice that came with my lunch, only with more meat. Iāve had far better Chinese food, but I also must admit,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreHonestly better tasting and well prepared western Chinese than most places you have been.
Starting from the basics, the white rice is perfectly steamed. They obviously care about the quality of this main staple. The pork fried rice is amazing, a bounty of actual pork chunks, egg, green onion carrots and peas. Most places charge extra for this treat.
Their eggrolls are giant hand made delights, I have only found their equal in San fransisco. Crunchy on the outside moist cabbage, shrimp and pork on the inside. If you have never tried a classic eggroll do yourself a favor and order it with sweet chili sauce. You are welcome :)
Everything else I have had has come at high quality and above expected flavor. Looking for a filling and tasty meal after exploring Mount St. Helen's? Come into downtown castle rock and get...
