Flavor: A- Service: A Tea: A Solo dining: A Billy Bob’s is a four-location mini-chain in small towns west of San Antone. You just never know if a little empire like this became successful because it’s good or if the people in these parts just didn’t know any better. I’m happy to report the former in this case. I got the fried egg burger and its patty, which I’d guess is homemade, is juicy and flavorful. One bite in and I could tell we were off to a good start. I wasn’t reaching for the salt & pepper, which I almost expect at a place like this. You could taste the hearty bacon and the over-hard egg (which I would’ve preferred over-easy but I doubt they’re into high-maintenance requests here). And as someone who wouldn’t choose to put ketchup on their burger, the mayo-ketchup combo on this burger worked beautifully. I believe in rating eateries for what they’re trying to do… fast food isn’t trying to be fine dining… Tex-Mex isn’t trying to be authentic… and Billy Bob’s ain’t trying to be trendy or gourmet. And for what they’re trying to do, they’re doing a mighty fine job. I’d give an A- on flavor. For a burger meal under $15 that’s real good. Now, keep in mind all those nice things I said about the burger because I also must mention the fries. They’re crinkle-cut, which I can love, but these needed help. I’ve had communion wafers with more flavor than these fries. It’s bizarre that a flavorful burger could be paired with such a letdown fry. It’s like the what-does-she-see-in-him couple that no one understands. Thankfully salt & pepper was on the table to help breathe life into these innocent potatoes. And one more have-to-mention is the restrooms. If you have to go just a little, hold it. But if you must, I’d remove as much clothing as is socially acceptable. Cause these restrooms either aren’t air conditioned or the A/C was broke and on a hot Texas day it felt like the wrong side of the pearly gates in there. But the burger, if you’ll remember, is good. Cheers to Billy Bob’s Hamburgers for a well-flavored burger in small town Texas! #theburgertrail...
Read moreOn Saturday March 2nd my wife did an on line order for 1/2 double burger with onion rings and lrg diet drink and a 2 pc. Fish we received confirmation that the order would be ready for pick up in 20min. Payment was then requested to be made. My wife provided our credit card information and closed out the order. I waited the 20 minutes. and went to pick up our order. When I arrived I informed the cashier that I was picking up a call in order for Mark the cashier looked confused and said was it paid for I said yes we provided our credit card information on line. He then went to the back and someone else came up and said since it was a large order it needed to be prepaid and then they would start the order. I explained that I only ordered a 1/2 double burgers with onion rings and a diet drink and a 2pc fish why is this not ready. Just then 3 more employees came to the front a female employee checked the register and informed me that my bill.was $173 dollars and change. At that point I became a little upset why am I paying $173 dollars for a 1/2 double burger special and a 2pc fish After a few more moments a employee from the back came up to the front and said I have your order. I double checked my order before I left it was correct. However I told the employees to make sure that you do not charge my credit card for the $173 since I prepaid on line. My card should have a charge of only $28.63 I am extremely disappointed in the way things were handled in the first place my order was placed on line and credit card information was provided. I feel that the owner needs to spend more time at the Castroville location and possibly take the time to retrain employees on proper procedures and communications between employees should be a top priority so obnoxious employees will not run off good paying customers and the restaurant will not be forced to...
Read moreWhile the food is not bad, place has a lot of different choices than a typical fast food joint and I would eat there again if it wasn't for the staff. They have the WORSE customer service. I tried them at both locations multiple times because I do like their food but every time I have a horrible experience with the staff so I won't go for a few months then I will try again but it's always the same. I don't know if they don't train their ppl or what. I use to be a team leader when I was younger at a fast food place, Ive worked in customer service in many different types of businesses since and I would never allow my staff to treat customers the way they do or screw up orders like they do and then act like oh well take it or leave it attitude they have. Ive ordered a family meal and said no cheese and got home and they took it as no anything but meat and bread when I tried to talk to manager the girl at register lied said she was the manager so I tried calling next day and manager would never talk to me or get bcak to me. Ive ordered food at the drive thru and sat at the window and not a single person acknowledged me after 20 minutes waiting for my food I finally just left and went to sonic. This is just 2 of my experiences. There have been many more. They need to majorly train there staff. I even one time had to explain to a girl there how to punch in a credit card manually if its not swiping, seriously? I could go on but this is getting too long...please please train your staff so I can eat there again as of now I've given up and iam not the only one my friends say the same thing and are...
