We lost everything in a fire. And a week afterwards a friend paid for us to have a night out to focus on each other. We came to the Cracker Barrel because it's a place I have been to 100 times. As I grew up in the area. The music was good the line dancing was nice to enjoy. The Mgr was soon to change shift as we found out. she didnt greet us as we entered we found a place to sit and waited for her to come around. 15 mins later we walked up and asked for menu's, she said so and so would be coming to help us, we said ok and took the menu's to sit. 20 mins later we walked up to order. The woman at the bar almost seamed to busy and was rushing us to just order and go away as it felt. We ordered and waited over 5 mins for our drinks to arrive 1 beer and 1 glass of wine. Well over 30+ mins later I was almost ready to leave and went for a smoke and came back in to find our food. The burger bun was hard and cold, there was no mayo on it eigher, the pierogies were also cold and stuck to the plate as they sat to long, the wedges were luke warm, the quesadilla was great. We ate then went up to pay as we could not get her to even look at us let alone bring our slip to us. She acted as if she forgot about us as we arrived to the counter. She did up our slip and apon handing to us said that she had given us a 10% discount as tonight was a crazy train wreck. I told her that was an understatement. And also told her that tonight was our one night away from the crazy in our lives to refocus. And why we were out tonight. And then we left and heard her telling other patrons about our misfortune and we walked out the door. She then ran out after us and asked us for our name and number because apparently she suddenly felt the need to be concerned with our needs. Yet our night was less then perfect as a matter of fact if it wasnt for being together and alone with no children it would have sucked all together. And we left without giving her any information. It would have been wonderful if she would have cared before she learned who we were, because she heard our story on the news.i am very disappointed in the service...
Read moreNice bar and grill right smack in the middle of Catawissa. Unpretentious and saloon-like, the Cracker Barrel was the sister bar of dearly departed Good Old Days bar in Bloomsburg (RIP). The vibe is much the same as GOD's was back in the day. There were some locals hanging out, playing pool and stuff. The bartender, Danah, did a good job. They have Genesee beer, one of my favorites, so that was a plus for me. We had some boneless wings with the Twister sauce, a burger, and a Reuben. All the food was good, nothing to cross state lines for, but all good and satisfying.
There's a shut down old bar in the back, that looks like it doesn't get used anymore, which is a shame. A busy night in that place with a band playing and both bars operational must have been a rocking good time.
One word of caution to all the menfolk out there, the men's bathroom sink is the highest pressure sink I think I ever saw. Exercise caution...
Read moreAlways saw this place and thought it would be an interesting place to visit. Was not sure what to expect.
I was asked 2 years ago to go on a date there, and I said cool let's do it. Was not disappointed. Great date. Been back several times since for more great dates.
When you 1st walk in there is a bar, but behind the bar, in a separate room, is a very large dining area. This place has weekly trivia on Monday nights and other special events.
Good cheap food. Love the classic old time feel of the place. Food is typical bar food. But very reasonably priced. No greedflation here. Ranch dip/dressing is made fresh. 5 stars.
Quick history lesson. I asked when I was there how they were able to use the name Cracker Barrel, When there is chain cracker barrel like 10 minutes away. I was told that the Catawissa Cracker Barrel and Bar pre-dates the national chain of the same name.
Oh and the owner/manager person, she...
