All I can say is terrible. Went with my family and spent $220 and got accused by the manager of having someone else eat crab legs that was just helping someone crack them. Totally embarrassed by the manager. And she even went so far as to say she could loom at the video. After trying to be very adult and calm the manager persisted to interrupt and was told to look at the camera and she would clearly see that it was not true. The manager was extremely argumentative and just overall immature and very childish. I have been going for years and told the manager that we would not longer be patrons and she said she did not care. After trying to be the adult in this situation it’s clear to me that the manager is extremely rude and childish and has no business being in a managerial position. All I can say is such a shame to have someone like that being a manger and potentially opening the owners up to a lawsuit for making false accusations and then threatening myself and my wife in front of my family. Not to mention I tried 4 times to have an intelligent and calm conversation after being accused and the manager interrupted me each and ever time saying this has happen with other people and they have had this problem before with others. I am not others and I don’t appreciate the implication nor the embarrassment that I had to endure in front of my family. Absolutely disappointed and appalled that this manager is allowed to address people in this manner with no consequences. I can assure you that I will do all I can to let others know just how despicable this experience was and to give that business to someone that appreciates it and respects...
Read moreWe went to Vella's a couple of months ago at someone's recommendation. The food was good. I got the Reuben, my husband got the French dip. My only complaint was it was so cold in there that I was shivering. I mentioned how cold it was to the waitress. She replied, "I'm cold, too". We decided to go back today. Again, the cold smacked me right in the face as I walked in. We ordered fried mushrooms. They were very dark, but good. They were not hot; we were able to start eating them right away, but they were warm. I orderd the mushroom swiss burger and chips, husband ordered the French dip and fries again. My burger came out completely torn in half, a dab of bbq sauce, and cheese that was not even visible under the bacon. The chips were a weird grayish, brownish color. I assume the grease was old. They were so overcooked that they crumbled when I went to break one. I brought it to the waitress's attention. She said in a rather sarcastic manner, "OK, I'll get it fixed". My husband was finished eating when she finally brought my plate out. My husband said, "Look at those chips". They were so undercooked that they were white. I picked one up and about 10 came up with it because they were stuck together and mushy. I asked the waitress for a to-go box. We paid and left. The dog will enjoy the burger. It really irritates me that a legitimate complaint is handled in this manner. As a former cook, I wouldn't have sent the first plate out like it was and if I did and it came back, I certainly would not have been spiteful and sent it out worse than the first one. As a former waitress, I would have NEVER delivered the 2nd plate. She is just a guilty...
Read moreWe've been going to Vellas since we were students at Carolina and sadly last night was likely our last experience. We've done crab legs night a lot since we moved back from getting out of the Navy in 2015 and no one has ever had a problem with letting our youngest son struggle to open a couple crab legs. Last night the manager or whoever had a big problem with a seven year old trying to open a couple crab legs after eating his kid corn dog and a few fries. Mind you, we paid for our 10yo to get all you can eat crab legs. Really disappointed this was an issue on the 10yo's birthday and ruined the experience for the youngest. From a business standpoint do you seriously think a 10yo is going to eat $60 worth of crab legs?!?! Instead of putting cold legs of meat in the bucket we handed a small child a cold crab leg we weren't even going to eat. I was going to be petty and order another plate and leave them on the table but chose not to. Thanks for the memories and most importantly thanks for ruining our 7yo's night. Since we let him eat two crab legs is that why no one asked if we wanted anything else to drink and sat there with empty glasses on our table for the last 15-20 minutes of our meal?
Food was good, service was garbage after the 'incident', atmosphere was ruined when poor buddy almost cried.
Sorry a 7yo almost put you out of business for eating two cold crab legs instead of me...
