UPDATED: After leaving my original review, I was contacted by several different people at Zaxby's (store manager, regional manager I think?) and I was sent a few coupons to use for a chicken finger plate or a salad so we could give them another try. For their response and effort to correct a problem I've bumped my star review up to a happy medium. We've returned a couple of times since and had mixed experiences. The service seems to have improved, or we just had better luck with the staff on shift when we went. Much friendlier and faster. The food, unfortunately, is still a little hit and miss as far as freshness goes. I've given Zaxby's all the tries I'm going to give them I'm afraid. We like their food, so I wish I could count on it consistently being well-made, and actually getting everything I order. If you eat at the restaurant, you can make the corrections that inevitably need to be made - missing items, incorrect sauces, etc. But if you order drive thru or with the app you'll get home and experience those same inevitable problems with no way to correct them. Last time I ordered through the app, arrived when I was supposed to and waited almost 15 additional minutes for my order to be ready, and when I got home I found that we were missing fries, and our toast was crunchy like a crouton as if it had been sitting out for hours. Tonight I ordered through the app, and the meal was packaged nicely with sealed bags and waiting for me at the pick up rack, and the employee I spoke with was very friendly. Felt like a good sign, but I got home and opened our order to find that we were missing fried pickles and there was no salad dressing included for my salad. I tried calling several times over the next hour to find out how they would resolve the missing items I'd paid for (credit for food another time? Refund?) but the call rang and rang, eventually connected and a recorded message simply said "goodbye" and disconnected. I tried submitting feedback through the website's "contact us" link but it wasn't working correctly and wouldn't let me select my local store. Basically it was impossible to communicate with anyone to resolve these issues. It shouldn't be this hard to get the food you order, made correctly and consistently, and be able to contact a business during its open business hours if there's some kind of problem. It's just not worth...
Read moreI was here at 12:30pm on sunday jan 19th. I'm going to try to be respectful here but I am speechless at how absolutely horrid of an experience I had here. First off, i was stuck there from 12:30-1:09 which is ridiculous because I only had to pick up a doordash. The lady at the front was so rude when I told her the name she just ignored me, and 30 minutes later when i asked how long was left, she said "its not ready wait your turn" then proceeded to help 4 customers behind me, and they all got their food while I was still waiting. Im pretty sure two of the male cooks in the back were very high or drunk as well, and i noticed 2 touching food without gloves. I was so surprised at the gross incompetence of every employee. 2 werent doing anything, 2 were just talking and messing around, and that one lady was just standing there glaring at everybody. I finally delivered my doordash 45 minutes late, had a mad customer who reported me and the store to doordash, and all for no reason. These workers being so rude and incompetent and unwilling to work directly affected the performance of my job, and there was nothing i could do about it except stand there. I will never be going to zaxbys in my life again, even just to pick up a doordash. If youre a doordasher, DONT GO HERE unless youre willing to lose money. If youre a customer there, i guess its your choice if youre willing to put up with that just to get mediocre food that isnt sanitary either. 0 stars for everything, it just wont let me put less than 1 star. I will also be recommending to doordash that they should not be paired with zaxbys anymore, as well as telling every dasher I come across to not accept orders from that location anymore. This isnt the first offense either every single time i go into that store this happens. I'm going to be posting this review everywhere to hopefully save some more people from such a...
Read moreI've never eaten at a place abysmal enough for me to leave a review until today. When we walked up to the counter, every sentence from the cashier felt like it was from a parallel universe. "Wanting to put in an order?" is such a strange way to start the sale - a simple "Can I take your order?" or "Is this to stay or to go?" would be much better.
After we ordered and paid, the register locked up; it took a cashier, a manager, and a cook to figure out how to get it working. They told us the payment didn't go through, but it was already in our bank statement. If we hadn't caught that, we would have paid twice.
Oh, and the manager coughed on the cash register and cups. That was a lovely touch.
I didn't notice the filth in the dining area until I sat down. My husband literally drew words in the table grease. Mind you, this was long after the dinner rush; any well-managed restaurant would've had things cleaned by then. But cleanliness appears to be a chronic problem at this Zaxby's. Even the ketchup packets were filthy.
The food itself was more or less what you'd expect from a low-grade chicken joint at 8:30 PM. The chicken wings were tough - almost the texture of poorly cooked shrimp, somehow. Nothing had flavor. The toast specifically disappointed me; it had the yellow color you'd expect on a nice buttery toast, but none of that taste came through.
I'm also unsure how a Coke Freestyle machine can taste so off. These machines always have a flavor slightly different from what's in stores, but this one just tasted flat.
The fries were fine - a bit mashed, lukewarm, and inconsistently seasoned, but by far, they were the star of the show.
I've only been to a couple of fast food joints worse than this, but that's because I found literal bugs in my food. My recommendation?...
