Very cool outdoor theater! It seats quite a lot of people with two levels, but still feels intimate. The two shows I've seen here, the actors haven't had mics but I was still able to hear nearly all of what they are saying. However, that may be an issue for someone who has hearing difficulties. The plays I have seen here have been the last weekend in September and it got cold! The first time was only had sweatshirts and a blanket. We learned our lesson for the next play and we brought winter coats, gloves, hats, and blankets which we pulled out about half way through. The plays we saw were Shakespeare plays performed by the SUU theater department. Tickets were WAY cheaper than the professional level Shakespeare Festival plays, but the quality certainly isn't at the same level. If you have to choose between seeing an SUU play and a Shakespeare Festival play, definitely spend the money and see the professionals. But the SUU plays were still worth going if you can. Very cool venue and I recommend seeing...
Read moreI'm torn as the performance, ambiance, stage and venue is 1st class. If I were to rate the seating (seats, specifically) I would give it only two stars. I was so uncomfortable in their seats. I did see a few bring their own seat pads for use. Their seats are hard plastic which were narrow with arm rests (which I did appreciate) but because of the narrow seating the built-in cup holders in the arm rests dug into my thighs causing me to shift the way I sat in the seat. Intermission was VERY welcomed so I could get it out those uncomfortable seats and walk around before having to sit through the last act. If they made the arm rests foldable somehow that would be better but I would suggest they upgrade their seats a bit and make them wider. I realize this would decrease their capacity but the performance I attended was not a full house. Their poor seating makes me question going back to see another performance which is sad as I LOVED everything else about the...
Read moreWe just saw The Taming of the Shrew here. It was an excellent performance. The acting is excellent as are the acoustics. It is a fairly small theater with intimate seating. The seats are generously sized and have plenty of leg room. It was easy to find free street parking. I'm a Shakespeare snob and I'll definitely return for more performances. I use a quad cane and had no problem getting to my seat. The stairs are large and easy to navigate and have excellent handrails. One thing to note, the theater is partially open so, at least, rows A thru G Orchestra sections are very likely to get wet if/when it rains. That said, the gift shop there sells plastic rain ponchos for about $5 each. Totally worth it...
