TL;DR - Great new pizza spot for EXCELLENT Detroit Style pizza (and by the slice options!). Super fresh ingredients, creative menu options, crispy dough and crust, and the hospitality of the owner coming out to talk about the different menu items made this an immediate "Will Return Often" spot for me.
FULL REVIEW:
I stopped by while in the area after doing a quick google search on them given I hadn't heard the name before. Found out they offered by-the-slice Detroit Style pizza and thought it was a great option for a quick lunch.
Little did I know I would be ordering one slice of everything off their menu haha! I couldn't decide!
To my much welcome surprise, I found I thoroughly enjoyed EACH of them. To the point where I even waited for the one option they didn't have ready at the moment (the Vodka pizza) to come out with a fresh batch to have a comprehensive experience.
Slices (shown in attached pics): Classic Pepperoni Hot Honey Harvest Mushroom Spinach Sweet Heat Pepperoni Sausage & Peppers Vodka
Was honestly expecting one to be my favorite by far, but honestly? 3 Came tied; Hot Honey Harvest, Mushroom Spinach, and Vodka.
The Hot Honey Harvest was such a REFRESHING mix of ingredients I hadn't tried on pizza before, particularly the squash, that worked much better than I first would have guessed. And that refreshing brightness was balanced with a bit of sweet kick from the hot honey. Finished this one first lol
The Mushroom Spinach was incredibly satisfying as a spinach pizza lover due to the flavorful addition of the pablano based sauce that paired extremely well with the spinach and mushrooms. A new spinach favorite for me.
The Sweet Heat Pepperoni was one I had had at other spots before, but the inclusion of the sweety peppers really added a more balanced flavor profile between the sweet and spicy kick of the hot honey and jalapeños. A great addition to this increasingly popular option.
The Vodka was the one I tried last, as I decided to wait till a fresh batch came out before leaving, ha! And I'm so glad I did! This bad boy is LOADED with an amazing vodka sauce that just explodes with flavor on your first bite. For all sauce lovers, I highly recommend this option.
The last two were more traditional pizzas that scored "lower" on my list, but NOT out of a hit on their quality or taste. Just the others surprised me more, really, making them stand out! The Classic Pepperoni and Sausage & Peppers slices were super solid options I could see myself sharing with almost anyone and being confident they would enjoy all of it. Super fresh ingredients, light and CRISPY dough/crust, and balanced flavors.
All in All, I was really surprised at this new pizza spot so close to home and am glad I had to run out on an errand for my sister, leading me to give this spot a try! ha!
Thanks again to the owner, K (gah, I'm horrible with names, Sorry!!), for taking the time to come out and talk to me about the menu. Really does show that you all care about the product you make and really hope your customers enjoy them. You'll be...
Read moreTLDR: Food was amazing! However, the service was unprofessional. We (party of 4) sat at an open table after ordering takeout (due to no seats initially), and the cashier publicly blamed us for "losing customers" (was told, "Because of you guys, I lost costumers") instead of simply and kindly explaining any policy. We observed other customers do the same without issue. Disappointing treatment despite great food :/
My friends and I recently visited Kizza Pizza for the first time, and while the food tasted amazing, the customer service left a lot to be desired.
We initially placed a takeout order because there were no available seats at the time. However, shortly after receiving our food, a table for four opened up, so we decided to sit there. Since Kizza Pizza appears to operate on a counter-order and self-seating model, we didn’t think this would be an issue. We’ve done the same a few times at other casual, non-server-based restaurants without any problems.
Unfortunately, the cashier approached us in a confrontational manner, accusing us of "losing potential customers" by sitting down. Instead of professionally explaining any dine-in policy or simply asking us to move, she jumped straight to blame and frustration ("I will let you sit here, but next time, don't do this because I lost costumers because of you.").
What made the experience worse was that other customers around us were also eating from takeout boxes, yet they were not approached or reprimanded. (It was easy to distinguish between dine-in customers, who had plates, and those with takeout.) This inconsistency in treatment made us feel singled out—and even discriminated against.
Had the cashier politely explained the policy early on, we would have completely understood, apologized, and left with our order. But the lack of clear communication and the harsh tone made us feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. We understand that she may have been having a stressful day, but I believe we should've not been on the receiving end of that frustration, especially when she told us this when we were already more than halfway done with our meal, rather than right away when she saw us grab the empty seat.
To be clear, the food is genuinely great! We were really looking forward to trying Kizza Pizza and enjoyed the food. However, because of this negative encounter, we’ve had a hard time recommending the place to others and don’t feel eager to return...

We were seriously BLOWN AWAY and MASSIVELY impressed with Kizza Pizza.
If you’re a fan of Detroit-style pizza, THIS SPOT is absolutely worth checking out and WORTH the drive! We drove about 40 minutes north of us and are glad we did!
The slices are huge—It feels like you get two for the price of one—and they’re thick, hearty, and loaded with toppings!
We’ve tried everyones favorite Via 313, and honestly, we prefer Kizza. The sourdough crust is thicker in comparison, crisp on the edges, soft in the middle, and each slice felt more substantial and flavorful. They offer 7 different slices of their Detroit style pies, which allows you to basically try them all if you want!
Top Three included: The Mushroom Taleggio – rich and savory without being too heavy. The Hot Honey Harvest – perfect balance of sweet and spicy. The Meat Lover’s – a classic done really well.
Don’t miss the garlic rosemary fries with scallion ranch. Honestly it was an unexpected side, cause after eating pizza who thinks they need more carbs, but they were so crispy and good!
We visited during a super busy time, Ren was incredibly helpful with slice recommendations and very attentive to the dining area—making sure tables were cleaned and guests were taken care of!
They also offer 14” New York–style pies if you’re in the mood for a thinner crust, which is a nice bonus. Also delicious, but we have to say the Detroit stole the show!
They also have dessert, which apparently we will have to go back and experience! Plus we saw a salad that looked pretty epic to!
All in all, the portions are generous, service is friendly and efficient, and the food delivers!
Kizza Pizza is a great option if you're looking for a satisfying and well-executed Detroit...
