I'm pretty sure I'm a regular here, and I've tried almost every drink on the menu.
Customer service: the employees working here are seriously the best. My orders are often quite large, so I'll call it in about an hour or so before I plan to pick up. They always repeat my order to ensure that it's correct, and ask when I'm planning to pick up so that they have my order ready when I'm ready. I've asked for modifications in the past and they are always mindful of that in future orders.
Pros: I love that their syrups are made in house - it makes a huge difference! There is depth to their drinks, and lots of complexity. It's also great to be able to adjust the amount of sugar without losing the flavor profile of the drink itself. I also appreciate that (some of) their toppings are house made as well - their boba is sweet, soft, and chewy and the best boba in the area.
Cons: not a fan of the charge for no ice. .35 cents adds up when you're buying 8-10 drinks. I live a bit far from the store, so when I order I'm often ordering enough for 4-7 days, and I just don't want my drinks to be watered down. I feel that the amount of money I save in gas now goes into paying for no ice, so all I'm really saving is time?
Recommendation: I come here specifically for their fruit teas, and outside of that the coconut coffee and egg custard creme brulee. Try to pick a fruit drink that is on the menu vs. building your own, and don't be afraid to adjust the sugar down to 0%. My go to's are the mango green tea and the lemongrass peach black tea. Skip: the milk teas and...
Read moreI've been going to Tea Pillar regularly since they first opened. I'm writing this review to give an honest opinion about the recent rebranding and menu changes.
What I miss about the old menu are the clearly laid out categories and especially the creative specials/seasonal drinks. That along with the quality of their teas as well as generous single cup size made ordering a straightforward process.
The new menu has massively reduced the options and focuses on customization, with a similar tea/milk/topping layout to the Chicha San Chen menu. While I can see the appeal of it, regular customers like myself are probably coming in craving familiar drink combos. Staff were accommodating in creating something similar, to their credit, however the final product came out at a much higher premium and in a smaller cup with less toppings. (even with less ice, I find that it's still hard to justify $8 for a 16oz) The green midland Oolong was also unfortunately lacking in tea flavor.
I'm curious to know why Tea Pillar went through such a drastic rebranding, but as someone who used to go often I'm a bit sad to see these changes. They still have specialty Vietnamese drinks on a menu at the counter, which I hope to try in the future. But otherwise I will probably not be going as often as I used to. Wishing you...
Read moreUpdate: they added egg pudding and aloe vera! 🎉
So happy to see so many new boba tea places popping up. I've already been here twice and both times have been a great experience. I love all the topping options they have. Many which I've never seen before at other places. It doesn't ever seem to get crowded. The second time I went there were two other people sitting down. Trying to get to this location is a bit tricky since Google Maps wants to send you to the road behind the shopping center. Also the construction happening nearby makes it a little confusing where the entrance is. My only "negative" is that they don't have your regular egg pudding which is my favorite on all my drinks. They offer a Flan Cake which is exactly that and doesn't really go with anything other than milk teas. Love that their boba pearls are fresh and made in...
