Eggroll House — Restaurant in Cedar Rapids

Yeah not sure what happened over the years but they definitely fell off from when I was in high school. You guys used to be SO good. My family would always order takeout and my mom and I would order the chicken and vegetable lo mein with fried rice and crab rangoons, my dad would order sesame chicken with fried rice and an egg roll. Everything was perfect and tasty and felt like we had sat down there to eat. Hi Jen was crunchy and the sauce never soupy, lo main had great flavor. Rice was perfectly cooked.

But I ordered this with my boyfriend now 5-6 years later and it is horrible. Everything tastes like it’s been sitting out all day or reheated from the fridge. Rice was hard, egg rolls were reminiscent of canned tuna flavor, the sweet and sour chicken was hard and soupy the vegetables undercooked, my chicken lo mein? Ramen noodles. Literal ramen noodles. I have been going to Eggroll (House) for at least 5 times a month for the last 3 years or so. The interior has changed little, and is a little bit run down, but I like to refer to it as "Rustic" and gives the restaurant character. They get so much carry-out/deliver business they probably don't focus on the interior. The food is one of the quickest carry-out or dine-in, even during their busy hour I've waited 10 minutes tops, sometimes only 5 minutes or so to get my food. The portions sizes are very big, I've only finished my meal maybe once. The egg rolls are good, fried rice is very good, and my favorite entree is the Orange Chicken, which I have got every single time I've ever gone. It's not a gourmet restaurant, and the lunch deal is very reasonable and you get what you pay for. The people are very nice who work there and most of the time even remember my order. SHOP WITH CAUTION! This place served me boiling hot ramen that melted through the Styrofoam container and paper to-go bag it was put in, and ended up burning my hand and lap! When I ran back inside to ask for ice and to tell them what happened, the lady ran outside to my car and went inside without permission to remove the evidence of the melted cup and ramen everywhere so I couldn't take pics of evidence. They cared more about that than giving me some ice for my buns, as their soda machine had none! They just let me stand there in excrucisting pain while they tried to cover their a**es! Then when it came to treating my burns, they kept telling me to go to the ER.. but wouldn't give me their insurance info or anything, so that they wouldn't be held responcible.
