I felt like treating myself on the weekend and noticed this in my maps app while searching for dessert shops. Itās tucked away in a shopping area but it wasnāt hard to find.
The shop didnāt have too much space inside, likely enough for a little over a dozen people at once. But the atmosphere was nice. The potted plants added a nice natural touch. And for anyone interested in amateur art, thereās a cork board with plenty of drawings made by various customers.
As tempting as the rolled ice cream was, I stuck with my plan for a drink only. The cashier recommended the Lavender Milk Tea which ended up being my choice. I was interested in the various fruit teas available but decided on trying them another time.
My order didnāt take long to prepare and I found it to be pretty good. There was enough lavender to notice the flavor and not be overpowering. It was also sweet enough that I was glad I didnāt order anything sweeter like the Brown Sugar Milk Tea.
My drink was good but I think a hot drink seemed more appropriate given the weather. The shop definitely wasnāt at fault; I just didnāt realize until after I finished.
Overall, I enjoyed my visit to Hi Tea and I definitely plan to return to enjoy more of their menu. Between the rolled ice cream specials and the exotic fruit teas, this place will remain a solid option for a...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent in there for the first time, and I was very friendly with them, asked what is popular and the woman (owner Iām guessing) and the guy who was working both told me what was popular right now! GREAT
Told them I wanted the Passionfruit tea with strawberry boba. And she said something like trying to correct the way I said bobaā¦but I said it correct. I was VERY confused. And she proceeded to try and correct me again like I said it incorrectly and then asked where Iām from (because Iām Asian) and I told her adopted from Vietnam.
So I have a sour taste now about this place, because I sat there and all the people after me who ordered said BOBA the same way I did. But I felt like she was judging or wanting to correct me cause she assumed I may speak an Asian languageā¦.IDK. I just didnāt see her say anything to anyone else about but me. And Iāve obviously experienced this type of situation with other businesses where asian people work. They always ask me where Iām from or whatever.
I just didnāt understand why she picked on me, and now I donāt see myself going back there. Also, the tea was okay, the first sip I took I got like 3 seeds in my mouth that were nasty. And the boba didnāt taste very good. Just the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy first time being there and I will not be back because of the customer service. I understand theyāre having trouble hiring but the one girl behind the counter was not making any effort to do anything as the other girl behind her was making all the drinks. The girl at the register did not say anything and I stood there wondering when Iād be able to order and she was leaning against the register, rubbing her eyes & mumbling that I could order. Not even asking if I was ready just that āI could.ā She asked if I wanted boba and I said yes trying to find the flavors and after 20 seconds of me looking for them, she finally points to them. Her attitude was just mumbling words & when I went to pay, she got her phone out and was on her phone with an AirPod in. Then she was walking around, rolling her eyes, hand on her hip and just mumbling words. Didnāt even know how to make my drink and made the other girl do it. The drink was good, but not good enough for me to come back because of the...
