Long John Silver's — Restaurant in Cedar Rapids

This was my 2nd time visiting the reopened LJS and it will probably be my last. The last time I had drive thru and thought the $20 price tag for my meal was a bit much but I did opt for the cheese nuggets and tried the lobster bites. Not only could I really not tell the difference the portion was not very big. The food was subpar. It was late in the evening so I thought okay it's late food could have been prepared earlier it was okay but not great. After that experience about a month or so I decided to give them another chance. It was around 4 and I hadn't eaten yet that day so I decided to try again. Well I didn't get any extras but did get the 2 fish meal that came with 1 side, 2 hushpuppies and a drink. I got waffle fries for my side. $12 and some change. Went to my table and waited. Got my meal delivered to me and I kid you not I got 6 pieces of fries. S I X! I was too shocked to even say anything. The staff was very nice and besides the little kid running around and the parents yelling at them the dining room was nice. I wasn't the only one that was disappointed in the food, 3 others complained while inwas in line to place my food. I should have taken that as a warning. I more than likely will not be back. I am so glad this location reopened after the fire. I have visited twice in the last two weeks, driving from Iowa City to get my hushpuppy fix. I know they’ve been busy since opening, but I was okay waiting. I was in the drive thru lane for 35min the first time. Food was hot and as good as I remembered. It seems like the chicken planks are smaller, so I’m curious if anyone else thinks the same. Today, I was frustrated. Hours on the window say they open at 10. I was there at that time since I planned to take meals to my family 90min away. The drive thru was not open. After checking online, it does say the drive thru opens at 1030. So I went to go inside but a sign in the window said the dining area was closed. I got back in the drive thru and waited. By 1030, there were 5 cars behind me. The employee taking my order had difficulties getting my order right. When I finally got it and got to my family’s house, I saw that they had shorted me on coleslaw. Frustrating since I don’t like the waffle fries so this was my only other side besides the hush puppies. This has happened before so I guess I’ll need to check my bag before I leave next time. The food and service were great. I have no complaints there. The restaurant was very crowded and we had difficulty finding a clean place to sit. The floors were slimy and very slick. These are problems I have encountered in other restaurants so take that for what it is.

However: This location has another whole dining room that was barricaded with trash cans. With how full the restaurant was, that area should have been open!

Additionally: The DISTRICT MANAGER sat herself in the MIDDLE of the restaurant and TOOK UP THREE TABLES to make phone calls and work with staff!!!! She even made a point to remind someone over the phone what her title was! Well, I am pretty sure she didn't get that title based on her situational awareness or customer service!

We don't have Long John Silver's where we live so we drove FOUR HOURS to get to this location! This was not the experience we were looking for.
