Spinal Taproom — Restaurant in Cedar Rapids

being a "tap" fan (my old band an I could have performed it) we HAD to check this place out. Cool guitar shaped bar (A Strat YEAH!) and all the pics. I had a great "Reeses" beer and the gal behind the bar was first rate. MY ONLY complaint, and yeah, it's a deal breaker (not REALLY) is there are no pics of Pink Floyd, Thin Lizzy, and get this... NO RAMONES! Get with it guys! But seriously folks, check this place out. We're going back to hear some original live music, and on THAT subject, I have played in my share of bars and someone took the time to put up sound baffles on the walls. Tiny detail, and most would never notice, but its the FIRST thing I saw, and you would not believe the difference they make in the "echo chamber" most bars are.

Kathy and Bruce have the best beers on tap. I am amazed at their knowledge about various beers. The staff is terrific! You never know who you will run into either. :) I am not as well-versed with rock music, but it is nice to learn more about the genre.

Update 8/31/25: I didn’t visit this place until Feb 23, but started coming more around the summer of 2024. Just a huge congratulations to the three year anniversary! Keep it going, don’t worry about any negative Nancy’s!...

Perfect bar for us. Great vibes, staff, regulars, and last but not least, beers! They have 4 gluten free lines and always have ciders and sours on, which is pefrect for me. Dog friendly, and they have a nice patio. You can hear each other talk, so great place to meet friends, have some great drinks, and catch up.
