I had no idea when I checked in at the Stagecoach in that I’d be leaving less than 24 hours later having made such great new friends. Bill and Ann are the most hospitable B&B owners I’ve ever encountered. They treated my husband and I like family.
After giving us a special card that would give us discounts at some of the most popular destinations in Cedarburg (Amy’s Apples, Stilt House), Ann showed us to our room and gave us a quick rundown of how things worked. Then she skedaddled and left us to ourselves. It was perfect. I don’t like it when hosts linger a long time when all you want to do is get settled in and start your vacation. The room was perfect. It was small but not too small, two nice windows (one overlooking the main street). Nice little bathroom. Shower a bit small, but great water pressure. We peeked into some of the other rooms that had open doors and they were all adorable. I went downstairs to grab something out of my car and overheard Bill and his son playing music together in the attached pub. I eagerly asked if there would be music that night. Ann told me they didn’t have anything lined up. By the time we got back from dinner, Bill had made some calls and found someone to come over and sing while he played the keyboard. How amazing is that! The music was fantastic and before long the entire pub filled up as people were lured in from the street. (See my review of their pub, Five20 Social, for more details). They close down the pub at 10 PM so guests can get some shut eye.
The next morning Ann had laid out a wonderful continental breakfast. I normally prefer a full hot breakfast as it is my favorite meal of the day, but this continental was a pleasant surprise. Freshly made scones, bread and other pastries were all delicious! Ann and Bill were both present to serve us coffee and make sure we had everything we needed. Ann put out yogurt, fresh fruit, granola and other parfait fixings on each table as guests came down. There were cereals, oatmeal, and hard boiled eggs. I finished up feeling very satisfied.
We had been planning to get on the road first thing in the morning to head up to Door County, but Ann and Bill invited us to stick around for the 4th of July parade and we couldn’t resist after our lovely evening hanging out with them and their wonderful friends the previous night. They had blocked off a section of chairs right in front of the Inn for guests and we were treated like VIP the remainder of our stay. They truly are the most charming people. We had tears in our eyes as we said our goodbyes and got on the road knowing the remainder of our journey would have a very tough time competing with our Cedarburg stay. While we enjoyed the rest of our vacation in Door County, nothing topped our experience in Cedarburg at the Stagecoach Inn. We will most definitely be staying here every time we return...
Read moreWe stayed in the Room on the ground floor. We were not aware that the pub had live music at night on Thur, Fri and Sat. till we were there. And being as the pub is the room right next to the main floor suit, there was no relaxing evening after long days out and about. |Then there was the clean up till about 11:30. (note, recycle bins are right outside the window) |Being an old building you would expect some squeaks in the floors, but who ever was in the room above us was either sick or just could not sleep, so till three in the morning all we heard was squeaking of the floor.. This could be fixed, even if the building is old. |If you like being in the pub all evening and don't mind the noise, you'll do fine there. ||(another note, there is only a door separating the bedroom from their breakfast dining room.) So, prep time and guests talking is heard easily through the door. The room we were in was nice as far as decor, though pillows need to be washed more (kind of smelled like rancid face oil) so bring your own pillow. |Atmosphere is nice. Apparently they are building a place behind the Inn where they will have music and some snack type food which will be very nice. But a few additions to make the guest more comfortable on the main floor room(s) would be helpful. |Its in a great location for tooling around town. But some tweeks would make it much nicer... (don't know about the other rooms, but for the one we stayed in adjustments should be made in the above...
Read moreCan't say enough about this place. My wife and I usually visit Cedarburg during Christmas time, when the weather is much much colder. We were there in May, shopped like crazy, and had to stop in again here. The place was packed with the Kentucky Derby and because it's a cool place, but also had a live piano player. Took requests and made an amazing night for us.
But back to The Stagecoach. They were very much interested in having us stay for some cocktails, even though we didn't think there were spots. Plus we had all the bags from the shopping day and Ubering around. Took us in with friendly open arms and said we could leave our bags with them to be locked up until we leave. Above and beyond.
Once that was done, it was an amazing night with the crowd loving every crazy genre mix of music he was playing during this live music event- which I know is important to them there. Sorry, I'm bad with names.
We will be back for the magical Christmas time in Cedarburg, or maybe before, but wanted to give a shout out to the staff (owners) who made us feel so very welcome.
Lastly, if anyone has a 1969 powder blue two door Buick Skylark Custom for sale, please...
