Update: April 2023 I just recently tried them again. I was happily surprised to see strong improvements across the board. They also now have an All You Can Eat option. What really made our night was the quality of the food. Everything we tried was great. We were excited to try everything we could. It's not the cheapest place around, but it may have just risen to my favorite Japanese restaurant in the area!
Original: I love Japanese food. It's light, refreshing, and doesn't leave you struggling in a food coma after eating a good meal. An izakaya, or informal japanese bar/pub, specializes in appetizers and finger foods. Which is exactly what I was looking for on a Saturday at lunchtime. Sho Sushi and Izakaya is very conveniently located on the intersection of two main roads, Arapahoe and Parker. So it is easy to see as you get off parker and turn onto 88. I have wanted to stop by for some time. The first time I tried was a Sunday at noon, but they were closed. I should have checked their hours first. So this time I actually went during their business hours. I went at noon, so I was a bit surprised to find the place empty. The restaurant was clean and the decor modern. My family of four sat down and began looking at their menu. We ordered a handful of appetizers, bento boxes and sushi. I haven't had Tako yaki for years, so I was excited to see it on the menu. It is also rare to find potato korokke in the US. Both were fresh and delicious. They were out of okonomiyaki and had crossed chicken karaage off the menu, but I get that there are supply issues right now in many industries. The sushi was well prepared and delicious. Out of the teriyaki chicken and the bulgogi bento boxes I preferred the bulgogi, as the teriyaki chicken was just a bit on the dry side. The tempura was good, the miso soup was good. The service was good. Everything was good.
In the end...I give them 4 stars, because while everything was good, there were only a few items that were great. For a 5 star rating I should be humming while I eat and looking forward to my next visit to try more things. So, go ahead and give them a try, you will definitely get...
Read moreShort summary: One of the best tasting AYCE sushi in Denver metro area. Great waitress and waiters. Terrible experience with the wait. Owner didn't seem to be willing to compromise. Would rather go to a different AYCE sushi...
I really don't like to write bad reviews on small businesses. I only write bad reviews on places that can take the hit...Such a shame. Food was pretty good. The waiters and waitresses are very friendly, accommodating, attentive, etc. Very good staff. However, be prepared to wait 30+ minutes in between orders even when it's not busy. Also keep in mind that this place has a 90 minute dining limit. It is like they designed to place so you get least value possible. There were only 4 to 5 other tables with an average of 4 people per table. I have been to several all you can eat sushi spots and this place has had the longest wait period even comparing to a place like sushi katsu which is packed to the brim nightly. As other reviewers stated, definitely put in larger orders so you don't have to wait, or go elsewhere.
It's really such a shame because I'd say this place is the best tasting all you can eat sushi in the Denver metro area. The price of $40 included Tako sashimi with ponzu, hamachi jalapeno sashimi, specialty rolls, snow crab, etc. The interior design is very nice. Modern. Clean. Whoever designed the interior did a good job. But again... SUCH a wasted opportunity. I only live 5 minutes away so I would definitely go here regularly and give them my money... But my experience there isn't worth a second visit. I hope the owners can come up with a new system to serve more tables at a time. Seemed like they were working on one single table's entire order before taking on another table.
Please improve. I really do wish to go back and be a regular, but with the wait, etc. it's...
Read moreCame here last night in hopes to do their all you can eat sushi option for 40 bucks. When we showed up we was told the wait time would be 15-30 minutes wait for a party of 6. Was totally fine for the waiting time, however we really did not get sat until 45 minutes.
When we got sat, servers took about 15 minutes to finally take our orders and our orders were starting to come. When it was coming, about half our order showed up, while the other half was missing and never showed up (no big deal since that’s kind of normal for most restaurant). When we decided to reorder for our second round, we order other new rolls and also reorder Eder the missing roll. However. I would not expect that about MOST of that second order to not showed up. When we finished what was brought to us, we was patiently waiting for the REST of the order in hopes that it’ll come but it never did. The server then came by our table ask us if there’s anything we need; I then ask if we have other rolls and order will be coming, and he went and checked and said there’s nothing coming. We then decided to proceed to not reorder anymore rolls because keep in mind from the time they took our FIRST order till that moment, it has been 2 hours. We then decided to pay and we saw on the receipts of our recent order we made that never showed up so where did that rolls and order went?
Overall, sushi and apps are good but this is the WORST AYCE sushi spot in Denver. I had never left an AYCE sushi feeling VERY hungry still and literally have to go to an In n Out just to fill myself up afterwards. For the same price that we paid, we would just stick with...
