We came in on a Saturday night with a reservation. We ate in the “cantina” room. The menu is limited, 7 appetizers, 4 salads (protein is extra of course, 6 pizzas and a 7th make your own option, 4 “handhelds” one “main”.
The cups were spotted with “salt from the water” according to the server.
We ordered four house salads to start ($5). They all came out all at different times. No one told us that the salads would be made to order, but also we ordered all four of them at once, I’m not sure why they all came out at different times. The dressing for the salads was basically straight olive oil. It didn’t have any flavor whatsoever. Also, there was no salt or pepper on the table so we had to ask for it. If you’re not going to put salt and pepper on the table, then your food should be well seasoned.
We also ordered a pickled vegetable appetizer ($9), which never came out so we cancelled it. In the middle of the salads that all came out at different times, the entrees started to come out. I had received my salad last, and in the middle of my second bite of salad, my pizza came out. The timing was really sloppy, but also no one explained to us how it was going to work.
Three of us ordered pizza: a pepperoni ($21) , a sausage amd ricotta ($21) and a margherita ($17). The pizza was very heavy on the dough and light on the toppings. Also, the dough needed to be cooked more. My pepperoni pizza was sweet for some reason. No one mentioned that there would be sugar in the sauce, which is my guess. My father also did not enjoy his $19 smash burger, which was actually $24 after you added on the $5 for bacon (which is absolute highway robbery).
I also had to eat my pizza on my salad plate because the pizza was getting cold, and we never saw our server again after a runner brought our food. Bathroom was filthy.
After 4 olive oil soaked salads, mediocre entrees, and meh service, and a $156 bill before tip, we definitely won’t be going back. I recommend you...
Read moreWe visited this place during their soft opening phase but you'd never know they had just opened. Food, service & ambience were all on point and it felt like the place had been open for years. Great beer options with a nice selection from Notch Brewing and a solid bourbon selection to boot. We shared a few food items: The Buffalo Wings, Steak Tips and the Pulled Pork Sandwich. All were fantastic but the Dublin Spice Bag was the winner. Fries with spices, peppers, onions and curry sauce. Adding fried chicken was optional and i'd recommend it. Best I've had outside of Ireland. Frankly, the fries alone were worth the visit. Taphouse is located in a beautiful historical building with multiple rooms on two floors. All decorated tastefully with several large windows to take advantage of the beautiful view of Lake Winnipesaukee. We chatted with the owner Sam for a bit. Lovely guy who clearly knows his stuff. Can't wait to go back and enjoy the view from their...
Read moreBased on the good reviews I read we decided to give The Taphouse a try. Didn’t have a good experience at all. First off they were supposed to have live music from 6-10 pm but when we arrived at 7:00 there wasn’t any. I asked the waitress and then the bartender if it had been cancelled and neither one knew anything about it. Ok! Secondly, when the waitress carried my cocktail to the table from the bar, she was carrying it BY THE RIM OFF THE GLASS WITH HER FINGERTIPS IN MY DRINK! Like WTH !! I got up from the table, went to the bar and asked for it to be remade. Bartender had an attitude about it. Smh Lastly, ordered the granite state salad with grilled shrimp. The salad was served in a small bowl with 5 shrimp a little bigger than a quarter. I don’t remember the price but somewhere around $25. Ridiculous. Would definitely return to Canoe up the street or the Bob House down the street but not here. Food and service much better at those...
