Ling's — Restaurant in Central Point

DON’T USE THE ONLINE ORDERING SITE!!! Ordered online waited 30minutes before driving to the restaurant. Was greeted by an older lady asking for my phone number, I told her it and said my order was done online and she said no online, so I showed her the order confirmation number and she responded with “I don’t know”. So I stood for 35 minutes assuming it just wasn’t ready yet and she was figuring it out only to then hear her say to the other lady working, “online order” and that lady said “oh we don’t do online, uhhh” as she walks into the kitchen. A few minutes pass and she comes out with another lady who looks like a cook. She comes out and turns on the laptop, pushes a button and a ticket prints out. The lady says to me “sorry about that she is starting your order now”. As I sit and continue to wait, more people come in and the service is just getting worse, and worse. A young lady comes in and says she wants “a tea to go” to which the older woman responds “what’s your phone number?”, the girl looks confused and went to speak but the older woman said “I don’t know” then just walked off. A few to go orders get handed out by the other employee and the gentleman getting his food speaks up and says this lady was wanting to order a tea, so she is finally getting helped. The amount of confusion right at the front is horrendous. So after waiting inside for almost an hour, my food is ready. I grab the tied up bag and off I go. I get home and untie the bag only to discover this isn’t what I ordered and the containers of sauce (pink sauce and hot mustard) they placed on top were all opened and spilled over the containers of food….Perfect end to an overall...

Let me start by saying the young lady that was the serve for our table of 11 was running her buns off and was so kind and accommodating. Unfortunately that's about all the good I have to say about this place. Let me start by saying this so the people in the kitchen can hear it. CHANGE YOUR FRYER OIL!!! It was so old and dirty that it make every bit of fried food taste terrible. The mar far chicken would have been really good if it wasn't for the fryer oil. That's the only food that would have been good though. The wonton used for the crab puffs are way too thick. The fried rice was lacking in flavor and sort of mushy, as if it hadn't been fried. Everything had just an old dirty sort of taste. Their family style offerings are a bit unfortunate as well. We had to order A for 4 and B for 4 so we could have mar far chicken and fried shrimp. Unfortunately that meant we were saddled with a ridiculously large amount of not so good sweet and sour pork without enough sauce on it and a ridiculously small amount of mar far chicken and fried shrimp. They should rethink that and do what some other restaurants do and offer shrimp if you get the family style for 4 or more. The chow mein on both styles were slimey and sub-par. I remember really liking Lings back in the day. The decor hasn't changed a but, but the food sure has. Changing the oil more often and a good clean on the grill would be a good start to better customer...

There were five of us in a basically empty restaurant, and we were seated at a booth right next to the bathrooms, because that was the only option for five people they had, which I found odd. I assume the entire back of the restaurant was reserved or something. The menu is rather sparse, and there was not the standard rice, chicken, shrimp combo, or choose your own two or three items. Prices were too high for the lackluster menu and its inferior quality of cooking. The lunch combo came with egg flour soup, though there was no mention of it on the menu or from the waitress, because had I known I would have asked to substitute hot & sour, of that was even possible. The egg flour soup was as flavorless as water. The fortune cookie was good. The pork fried rice was exactly as it should be, like I remember from Kim's, as was the pink sauce. The mar far chicken was tough. My kids liked their shrimp and french fries. The bathroom was so disgusting, I'm never going back. Even with the waitress washing her hands, she's still going to touch this door. I do not like the place I eat having a gas station bathroom. If you run this kitchen and aren't bothered by the filth and customers seeing it, who knows what you let go back there where...
