The Centerville Cafe — Restaurant in Centralia

Our first time in…definitely NOT our last! Feels like family! Walked in seated ourselves and immediately was noticed by our waitress… Bingo😉 I immediately knew they were going to be good! I didn’t catch your name (long blonde hair, very nice, sweet smile and knows how to great & people!) We got coffee and ordered 2 large chicken fried steak breakfasts. Fancying myself as somewhat of a officianatio (kidding) of chicken fried steak, let me tell you about the, crunchy, perfectly cooked, cuts with a fork bites devoured. Not greasy and burnt, like the last place we ate …(coughcountry cousin cough) Don’t get me started on how I don’t regret ordering extra gravy. Comes with plenty but I married a gravy lovin Man! Golden hash browns, perfectly buttered sourdough toast. I am suuuper picky about my eggs but Can you say perfect, gooey golden, hot, not runny or overcooked. Y’all… Friendliest place we’ve been to in Centralia. Oh and when my Husband mentioned he was craving a little whipped cream on his coffee, not only did he get it but the asked if he wanted sprinkles 🤣 but in a nice way. A server "mistook" my eggs benny for her own. Then when I asked where they were She said woops I didn't see them on there. Not realizing i could hear her from the kitchen. She told to cook i accidentally took thoes eggs benny form that table. He like oh want to make them fresh. She said no just reheat some. I was well ok then. She brought to my table. When I tried the sauce it was horrible. I took one bit hoping i couldn't be as bad as I thought. It was. When I said it tasted like someone put a crap ton of dijon mustard in it. She replied that it was lemon i was tasting an since she made the sauce or has made the sauce before. That I basically didn't know what i was talking about. Then she proceed to ask other customers if they liked the sauce. They said it was fine. If i had a fresh one it probably would have been too. I wasn't trying to insult her nor did I really argue. It was whatever. But I won't be going back. An since the place had a healthy amount of customer and some regulars. I'm sure my money...

Bravo to the new owners! To be fair they are my dear friends and I am so proud of this new venture. That said, running a business it not new to them and they have the highest standards for cleanliness and for a fun and welcoming experience for all. My eggs were cooked perfectly...a true test. I love the new decor mixed with the old and the tribute to the original and subsequent owners and patrons throughout. This place is special as they care about this community so it will always be about more than perfectly cooked eggs.
