The short: Food was good. The waitress was lovely. It is clearly a popular place with the locals, but being lowkey accused of theft has left us not wanting to return. The long: My friend and I went to Berryfields as my friend is new to the area and has never been. They have been asking to go, so we finally went today. We got there around 10AM and ordered two of the veggie skillets. They were very busy. Neither of us were bothered by the long wait as we both have worked restaurants and knew it would be a bit with the number of occupied tables. Our waitress was so lovely and kept us updated; our cups were never empty. When she brought us our food she also brought a cookie for us for the wait, which we thought was very nice. Neither of us wanted the cookie due to dietary restrictions, but we figured someone at home would like the little surprise. When it was time to check out, my friend went up to the counter to pay. I followed as the portions were quite large and I needed to get moving, too, which meant walking up to the counter with the cookie. The lady behind the counter entered our ticket and then added the cookie to the bill. I cut in before my friend paid to point out that the server told us the cookie was free. The lady behind the counter was confused, and then asked another woman to come over, who then asked for someone else (I am assuming a manager?) to come over when they were free. I don’t like confrontation, but I managed to say that if it’s not for free, we don’t want it. No one moved or said anything, so we just stood there looking at our feet. It was very embarrassing. Our waitress came over an explained that the cookie was a gift for waiting over half an hour for our food. Just then a man (I assumed manager?) walked over and they whispered to him that they got it. The lady then gave us our total again, not even a “whoops, sorry, your total is…”. The tone of it all was very awkward and accusatory. Over a three-dollar cookie (our bill was over forty dollars). I wish I had just left the cookie on the counter. We rode in silence for a bit on the way home before my friend said, “I have no need to go back there”. I agreed. Even if either of us could eat the cookie, neither of us would have wanted to. We ended up just giving the guilt cookie to the next...
Read moreThe main entrance uses stairs, and isn't handicap friendly. There appears to be an alternative going around the backside of the building tho.
Once inside, there was a small waiting area where we were quickly greeted and found a sanitized table for us. The wooden bench seats offered plenty of room and comfort, tho it could use a little padding for comfort.
Drinks were fast and great! Had a Forrest Berry Tea(hot drink) and a classic Arnold Palmer. There was a slight overlook with getting a refill right after serving our food, but it was a busy lunch hour there. This costs a star unfortunately, because I didn't order a nice drink just to wash down my food with regular water.
Food was amazing! We had a classic BLT and a Northwesterner. Both were truly top notch, and the ingredients piled high! For sides, we did some fries as well as Clam Chowder soup. Enjoyed the fries and really liked their version of a nice thick Clam Chowder soup.
While their desserts are truly tantalizing to the senses with their selection of pies on display. Unfortunately, the regular meal left us to full to properly enjoy them. My friends tell me it's worth coming in for them alone! I hope my next visit has room...

I had the turkey pesto panini with a side of tater tots and lemon pie for dessert. The portions were generous, and I was satisfied with just half my meal, meaning I could enjoy the leftovers later.
My panini had a lot of turkey! So much so that I took about half out and ate it first so I could focus on the other flavors. This was some darn good sliced turkey! I'm glad there's was so much of it. The sandwich was fantastic, savory, rich, and crunchy. The pesto was bright and tangy. The red onion, crisp and fresh. The bread grilled perfectly.
The tater tots made my inner child cheer. A heaping portion with a perfectly crunchy exterior, soft pillowy interior, and not too oily. These were the tater tots that my elementary school lunch lady never could quite deliver.
The lemon pie was decadent, more sweet forward, but still nicely tart. The whipped cream topping was sweet and rich. The crust was just what I wanted with this filling. It had great texture, dense but still flaky, and provided a perfect neutral base for the filling.
I enjoyed my meal at Berry Fields Cafe and will return the next time I am...
