I drove by the tap house for quite awhile and never gave the place much thought because I thought it was primarily a bar and I'm not much of drinker. My wife and I were invited to a friend's birthday there, which was the first time we'd been there. After looking over the menu neither of us could decide and were both torn between a couple menu options. We basically ended up ordering for each other and splitting each dish. We ended up getting a pizza and the spammich. We opted for the spammich essentially because we figured anywhere that is bold enough to put a spam sandwich on their menu must know what they're doing. I can't recall the exact pizza we ordered but the ingredients were all fresh. The meats were good quality and flavorful, the vegetables were good quality and fresh. The red sauce was also awesome, it was well seasoned and was also not overly sweet. The crust also had nice texture with a nice crisp outer layer around a softer slightly chewy interior. It had a nice flavor as well without any odd flavors I frequently notice when the dough is made with city water. Overall the pizza was well balanced, nothing overpowered the other ingredients. The spammich is also a good option, while it is made from spam it doesn't have any off-putting smell or taste. The sauce is awesome with a nice but tolerable level of spice. It is served on decent quality bread that holds up well to the moisture content of the sandwich while not being overly tough or chewy. If you're into adult beverages they do have a good selection of beers in particular and the staff are knowledgeable with them and are pretty good at making suggestions based on your preferences in beers or food for...
Read moreVery nice pizza place. We dined outside because it was a nice weather and if you know Washington then you’ll know you have to take every chance to eat outside and catch the sunshine. There’s 4 tables with umbrellas. Is no so private given the fact the restaurant is on a corner off a Main Street but is pleasant. In the inside there’s a bar with special rotating beers and happy hour also the main dinning area is spacious and cozy with the tiki vibe . The pizza Doug is house made sourdough which makes it easy on the digestion even for gluten sensitive crowds you can also select true type of sauce either white or red or not sauce at all . The ingredients are super fresh and the pizza crust delicious and crunchy. They also offer a couple of sweet treats to top it off your dinning experience. The owner is super attentive, friendly and kind and recommended the Oktoberfest seasonal beer so good and refreshing. They also have personal pizzas good for kids. A standard pizza is good for 2 or 3 people and the Giant for 5. We got the cast away and the supreme. Bathrooms are super clean and decorated with a tiki theme vibe. Highly recommend if you stop by Centralia. Parking is off the street but there’s also a public parking around the corner with plenty of spots....
Read moreThere were some really odd policies that surprised me when we visited. Beers over 9% are only served in an 8oz glass which sounds reasonable but they do not allow samples of those beers so your only choice is to commit to a full one. I've never seen a tap house treat beer fans like that. The other oddity came when my wife was only drinking soda because she was the designated driver and our waitress made it clear that you were allowed "only ONE refill" on the soda. This goes against the direction of every alcohol establishment that I've ever seen, makes little fiscal sense, and seems like a liability to me. I suspect that they have little local competition so they can get away with this nonsense.
There was redemption in friendly service and our food which was good and unique. I ordered from the menu and got a delicious white sauce pizza with Spam, mango, and kettle chips on it that was a very pleasant surprise.
After one visit as a beer tourist I would be hesitant to go too far out of my way to return unless I was really craving that pizza or they happened to have an especially desirable beer on tap that I was prepared to instantly commit to a full glass of without there gainer of getting a taster...
