Friend took me here to try it. Him and my husband really enjoyed their food, which is pictured. But they should do their own review. I ordered a Carne Asada burrito and it was FILLED with rice and black beans and had a piece of Carne asada every other bite. For how expensive it was, it was completely unacceptable. No joke, there was probably 5 pieces of meat in the entire burrito. The guys had the molcajete dish. It was filled with cactus, chorizo, steak, a piece of shrimp, and something else. The chorizo was delicious, but it was petrified. Food was not great for the wait. Waited 20 minutes for a menu. Waitress was in the back doing whatever. Finally served and was never talked to again until the end of the meal when everyone was practically done and all our beverages had been gone for a while. Poor service. The interior needs cleaning, for sure. Everything was sticky. Every surface looked/felt like it had been wiped down with a watered napkin. I'm not one to leave bad reviews. I leave honest reviews, based on my opinions. If you try it and like it, that's awesome! I tried it and won't be coming back. I know several other restaurants in the area who will deliver on my expectations, for a fraction of the...
Read moreIts our first time here. Stopped in for lunch. Only maybe 3 customers are here. Over half an hour later finally one plate arrives, there are only two of us. A couple minutes later the other plate arrived. My plate had chicken which was so chewy I actually gave up and just pushed it to the side and ate the veggies, rice and "beans". The reason "beans" is in quotes is because they are all pureed, so they are essentially the sauce. I thought of explaining that the chicken was chewy but our waitress changed mid meal and we had already waited so long we needed to leave. The waiting wouldn't have been quite as bad, had they done something simple like turning on the TV (yes they have one) some music or maybe chips and salsa? You could buy chips and salsa but, not knowing how long it would take we didn't even think about it. Other than the chicken being so chewy the food was okay, but not worth the price and...
Read moreThe section of Interstate 5 between VanWa and Thurston is perennially shy on decent food stops. Vicky's is an entire exception.
A young woman, carefully masked below dancing eyes, took our order for a quick road dinner that proved transcendently delicious. I ordered a chicken tamale wrapped Salvadoran-style in a banana leaf rather than corn husk; it was delicately delightful. Then I scarfed half my spouse's plate of beefy, black bean goodness, which was every bit as good. I immediately regretted every mouthful of road gorp that I swallowed while we looked for someplace decent that was still open on our weeknight trip north. Had I known Vicky's was waiting, hot and delicious, I'd've stuck to water.
Highly worthwhile, and now on our rotation list. The ambience is non-existent -- and unnecessary, given the food quality. This place is all about the grub, and we'll definitely be...
