Got the Hibachi Filet Mignon and Shrimp. It came with salad (average) and onion soup (super tasty). The filet mignon and shrimp were surprisingly high quality for a hibachi grill. Filet mignon was tender and the shrimp were much larger than I was anticipating. Big quantity of veggies but they were over cooked to mush and the rice was unacceptably poor. The entire plate was completely drowning in sauce. Atmosphere is odd. Still setup pandemic style and it is 2 clearly overworked employees. You will stand at the door awkwardly until 1 of the 2 employees comes out from cooking in the kitchen.

My 3 star rating is based on the lack of cleaness in the front end, boxes opened, paper goods scareted, and furniture full of dust. The food quality and preparation a rating of 4.5 stars. Service was friendly and on time. Restaurant is nicely decorated ambiance music is quite needed. We had lunch for four of us. I strongly believe if some of the small issues are taken care regarding the disorganized image, Yamato Japanese restaurant could one of the best in many miles in southern Illinois.

Food was great, but on the more expensive side. Service was good. We only had one other group in the whole restaurant during dinner service. However, the women’s bathroom was an absolute mess… In the picture is the General Tso’s chicken and the Tempura Shirmp with Vegetables. Both items were very tasty and fresh. The soup which came with the dinner was very flavorful.

I am completely dissatisfied with this restaurant. I should have known to leave when we arrived and the place was empty during dinner rush. My family and I ordered the following;

General Tso's Chicken - chicken was tough, dry, chewy and bland. There wasn't any spice to it at all. The accompanying rice was bland as well, and the broccoli wasn't even warm.

Rainbow Roll and Pink Lady - were the only redeeming purchases from an otherwise lackluster meal.

Steak and Shrimp Hibachi Combo Dinner - There was maybe 2 ounces of steak and 5 tiny shrimp. The accompanying rice and vegetables were cold and bland.

Spicy Crab Stick - The only thing spicy about this, was the wasabi on the side. Otherwise tasteless.

Filet Mignon and Shrimp Hibachi Dinner - Again, about 2 ounces of steak and 4 tiny shrimp and the accompanying rice and vegetables were tasteless and cold.

Chicken Lo Mein - My young daughter absolutely loves her noodles and hardly ate any of this dinner, so I can safely assume that it was in the same regards as the rest of the meal.

I spent $120 and my family left dissatisfied and wanting to get a pizza on the way home. The Ladies restroom was also just absolutely disgusting.

Do NOT eat here. If I could give this place zero...

On a fateful Thursday evening I decided to order the 35$ steak and lobster. I figured I haven’t splurged in awhile, might as well get something good, and boy do I wish I had a Time Machine, I wouldn’t of used it to stop the holocaust, or 9/11, I would use it to stop this place from ever obtaining a restaurant license. When the food was presented to me I first tried the lobster, if I hadn’t of known better I would of thought it was rubber with the texture of a Goodyear tire and the flavor of an old scaly slimy Carp. Then moving on to the steak, the steak was cooked to perfection, if you consider perfection an un seasoned, non flavorful, overcooked, overpriced chunk of toughness. Throughout my meal I often considered if I was just eating a worn out pair of size 8 sketchers. At least my two pieces of broccoli drowned in soy...
