I don't frequent Cerritos often but my mom likes to visit the Los Cerritos Center every once in a while to check out Zara. The closest Zara for us before Brea Mall's recent opening has always been in the heart of Cerritos. Anyways, I was looking for a good Asian restaurant in the area and found Jomaru Korean Hot Pot!
We arrived shortly after opening around 11:30 AM on a random Monday morning a month ago and was hesitant at first to dine-in because it seemed very busy with only one server available. We were seated right away and was brought our waters. There was a party of about 8 to 10 people come in ahead of us so it took a little longer to get our order in but that was no problem at all.
Here's what we ordered:
**Ojingeo Bokkeum (Spicy stir-fried squid): The squid itself was on the squishier end because it probably sat around for a little bit but the sauce was delicious! The amount of other toppings including fish cake and an abundant amount of vegetables were the star of the dish including the sauce. At the end of the day, I didn't mind the slightly soggy squid because everything else was great! Portions were big enough that we were about to eat a good portion and still took a big chunk home. (4.5/5)
**Dolsot Bibimbap (Bibimbap in hot stone bowl): This was our favorite dish out of the two. After many failed restaurant visits with dolsot bibimbaps, this one blew everything out of the water. I've had better but this was way above average. Super delicious and very fresh. (5/5)
The banchan here was great! One of the best array of banchan dishes we've had in the area.
Although there was only one server, you could tell she was well composed and in the zone. Didn't get her name but she was helping out many tables all by herself and got everything done in a very timely manner. We had no problem asking for more banchan, to-go boxes, and our check.
If you're in the area, I recommend Jomaru Korean Hot Pot. 100% delicious, spectacular service, and affordable prices with...
Read moreRecently opened Korean hotpot restaurant in the same plaza as Sprouts. Used the Yelp app to make reservations but the place was not packed at all and we were seated within a few minutes. We got two hot pots : Gamjatang has a rich pork bone broth with pork neck bones, enoki mushrooms and sliced potatoes, perilla leaf with mild chili spice. Meat is very tender, enough to separate the neck bones and pick out the meat. Seolleongtang is ox knee bone broth with sliced tendons, beef tongue and sliced beef. The broth is milky from the bone and cartilage but has no dairy in it. Tables are provided with a special sauce for the beef broth:it tastes of garlic, vinegar and soy sauce. Quiet and clean space. I think there used to be a Thai restaurant in this same spot. This is a franchise restaurant but the quality of the food was better than expected. We got the chive pancake which was okay on it own , even better with the dipping sauce. Assortment of banchan or side dishes: kimchi, chili covered potato wedges, radish and fish cakes. All with refills. White rice served individually in bowls. You can request extra broth for either hot pot. And fried rice at the end if you let them know. We were so full from these already and did not need the fried rice. There were at least five other tables almost all families and service was attentive to us all. Requested both hot barley tea (in metal teapots) and ice water (in pitchers). The servers carry pretty large pots of hot food so watch yourself and your...
Read moreSaw high rating on this so we thought of giving this a try. Was intrigued with the "korean hot pot" part. It did not disappoint! We had Hae Jang Guk and combo Bulgogi and SoonDuBu Hae Jang Guk. The broth from Hae Jang Guk was deep and rich as soon as you slurp it. The pork was tender. Everything was well seasoned! Wasn't sure if the banchan was free refill so we didn't want to ask (didn't want to get charge for refills of banchan (some places would be sneaky in adding this to the bill)). The waitress at one point did offer to refill the fish cake banchan, and that was it though she didn't offer to refill other ones. Anyway, everything was amazingly delicious! Came for an early dinner on a regular weekday so we got sat down immediately. Definitely recommend those who wants some korean hot soup/korean dishes. We would come back next time to try their other menu. Love the decor and openness of the space too, made it feel very welcoming! Parking was easy. It's located next to other businesses so it was convenient to walk around and digest the good food after eating there....
