I recently had an alarming customer service experience at this locations (Cerritos, CA).
My wife and I ordered Polly's menu standards, nothing extraordinary. The coupon from the website indicated a free slice of pie with a specific meal choice (accorded our regular patron status). At the end of our meal we were offered pie and we both asked for pumpkin. Our waitress returned and stated pumpkin was not available, she offered any other. We asked for apple, she departed to return with a single slice of apple pie and stated that was all that was available. We said disregard the request for apple, she offered Pecan. We said, "Sounds great, bring two slices. " She departed only to return and say, "We've only got one slice." I stopped her, stating that was quite enough and we would probably need to see the "Manager."
Enter "Scott", the Coach (according to his name badge). I explained the scenario, how the initial impression upon entry to the restaurant seemed a bit odd. The pie case was fairly empty, and smudged, the crowd for a Friday evening was considerably less. The state of our delivered meal seemed not quite to meet the standard of our last dining experience from the evening prior (at the same location). I informed him of the pie fiasco. He gave me a moment to state my case while feigning listening. He elected to focus on the pie. He said very pointedly that had been a busy day and all the pies were essentially sold, therefore, he only had those slices to offer (very matter of factly). I stated that I understood business but Polly's is pies. I could not understand how 2 hours prior to closing the most basic pie was unavailable in more than a single slice. All things being equal, I could grab a burger anywhere but the pie is the primary draw, second only to Polly's easy going atmosphere. The body language, the brevity of response and overall behavior of the manager was off-putting. I expressed to "Scott" that the interaction was less than positive, the standards at this location seemed somewhat skewed, and his behavior was contributing directly to the loss of a family of long-term customers. I exited the table, he said something to the effect of "What you want me to do?", I turned to him and stated I was done with the conversation and simply wanted to pay my bill. I asked him not to speak to me, as I started for the register. He said something else and laughed as he headed to the kitchen.
At the register, as I began to pay my bill, he returned and told the cashier not to charge my meal (continuing in the condescending manner). I stated that I had no interest in a "comp'd" meal. I expressed to him that I was appalled at his handling of the situation and how he allowed a $20 meal to get to the point of being a word-of-mouth PR nightmare. I expressed to him that I would hope this "event" will be a learning point to him in how to treat customers from a management level. I expressed extreme disappointment at the fact that the negative experience would bar my dining at any other Polly's facility.
This experience speaks to absent courtesy, a degree of laziness, and non-existent customer service. Understanding it can be difficult to "get it right", but in business it is well worth the time and effort to be proactive to keep your customers. Attitude is...

Free entree & slice of pie and free slice of pie for entire party birthday month coupon for Polly's Perks members
Polly want a graham cracker crust?
Polly's Pies is known for, you guessed it, their pies. Think Marie Callender's. I've dined in at this location a couple times, previously. Being my birthday month, redeeming my birthday promos becomes priority one. Thus, I arrived at Polly's post-gym workout.
Complimentary cornbread, biscuit or muffin is served as a starter. Between the cornbread & biscuit, I preferred the biscuit. Which can also be upgraded by being smothered in gravy, for an additional charge.
Have-It-All skillet- Served neither sizzling, nor in an actual skillet, the Have-It-All was approximately half the size of a Denny's skillet. Served in ceramic shaped like a skillet that wasn't hot to the touch, this entree was a bit disappointing. Sure, the cherrywood smoked bacon, sausage, onions, mushrooms, bell peppers & Jack cheese over breakfast potatoes & scrambled eggs tasted good, but I was expecting more by way of portion-size. Good thing Polly's birthday month promo covered the bill, otherwise I wouldn't recommend the Have-It-All skillet, considering the $12.99 price.
Pie in your eye! Polly's has legit pies. Of the three I've tried, I tend to go back to their Banberry pie.
Service was okay. The attendant rang me up incorrectly, and tried to have me pay for the skillet. The error was taken care of, promptly. Polly's Pies is located in front of Seafood City, which makes parking difficult during the weekends & holidays.
I only visit Polly's Pies to redeem my birthday month promo, or when I receive a perk in my inbox, such as free coffee. The culinary fare seems to be overpriced and not anything noteworthy. However, the pie is where it's at. Bring your sweet tooth, and you'll be happy...
Read moreWe go here often to this Polly’s and really never had an issue until this past Friday 02/04/22 I received my Birthday Reward and decided to go Eat and get my reward with my Daughter and Daughter in law and Baby Granddaughter First we were rushed by the not too friendly waitress.. I did let her know before ordering that I would be using my birthday reward coupons She said wait till we got the check. Mind you I showed and let her know of my coupons First they only had taken 2 of the free slices of Pies when it said one per each of your party It was 3 adults then she went back to have them fix it… then I noticed they took of the cheapest meal off for my Birthday reward which wasn’t my meal! Went to pay up to the register talked to the Manager Ray who was very rude!! He was so careless and rude!! He said no i already fixed it and took out the other Slice of pie! I said yea but the meal that was taken off was not what I had!! He said all rude well that’s what you get taken off the cheapest one!! So I said what if I had gotten separate check and he was well then yeah I guess!! And he said he didn’t care to get a complaint instead of adjusting my order which paying wasn’t a problem we were just trying to make sure they took out the correct meal.. He should not be a manager!! I have been A General manager for so many years And this is not how you treat your customers!! I wasn’t asking for anything free just for him to make it right and he was very rude and did not make it right!! He didn’t Care!! I would give a Zero if there was an option for...
