Person in charge does not have adequate knowledge of food safety in this food facility as evidenced by this noncompliant inspection. Food in the freezer stored open with no covering. Food ingredient storage containers, in the refrigerator and freezer not labeled with the common name of the food. Food dispensing utensil observed stored in the food and not with handle above the top of the food and the container. Observed wet-wiping cloths not being stored in sanitizer solution. Food in the refrigerator and freezer was not date-marked. Observed galvanized metal can used for storage container. Thermometers for ensuring proper temperatures of food are not available or readily accessible. Loose and broken rubber door gaskets observed on the cooling unit. Observed deeply scored cutting boards not resurfaced or discarded as required. Nonfood contact surfaces not cleaned at a frequency to preclude accumulation of dirt and soil. Pans and dishes are not inverted. Wet equipment was stored in a manner that does not allow air-drying. Plumbing system is not maintained in good repair. The hand-wash sink in the kitchen area was blocked by trash can and not accessible at all times for employee use. Inspector witnessed food facility is not removing dead insects. Food facility is not practicing good cleaning procedures. The refrigerator, microwave, slicer, shelves and walls are all extremely dirty and need to be cleaned. Really good authentic food. Their restaurant uses meat from the cow that isn't usually used in other Hispanic/Mexican restaurants around here, which is a really nice addition to add that authenticity. For instance, this restaurant uses beef from the head and the tongue in their tacos. I tried both and they're super delicious. The service is okay, but you might have to catch a waitress's attention to get certain things instead of them coming back to check on you a lot. I noticed this when I already ordered, and a friend came in to eat with me a little after, but the waitress never came to take their order, so I walked up to the front and asked for another menu. The atmosphere is also nice, it feels very homey. However, there are a few things that I'd like to note like the bench's leather being ripped up from it, and a shaky table, but that's nothing to be worried about. I went here following google reviews and was so glad I did! One of my sons was with me and we were on the run. The smells were incredible, and even on a hot summer day he literally ate every scrap of food that was in the to go container BEFORE we’d made it to Lowe’s (that was NOT very far)- I typically assess and revisit based on our kids, and he said, “looks like we found a new ‘go to’ place mom!”-the ladies behind the counter were nice and helpful, the woman taking my order over the phone was nice, and it was an easy process, and the music was soft enough as background when we walked in, not overly loud, something you could easily talk over while you waited for your food.
