Gus's World Famous Fried Chicken — Restaurant in Chamblee

Went to pick up a delivery yesterday for a customer & not only was one of the staff members lackadaisical BUT she was unfriendly & had an evil countenance after I POLITELY insisted that she make my customer’s order a priority—I had the chicken BUT she had me waiting on her to bring TWO pie slices.

Her demeanor was beyond deplorable & I wouldn’t suggest this location to anyone.

I don’t know her name, but she had several piercings in her face...when I came to pick up the customer’s order she informed me that they were out of pecan pie.... I had to ask her what other options the customer could substitute the pie for & she had an attitude.

She didn’t take any initiative for their error of not having the pie the customer ordered online....

She didn’t take time to contact me once the order initially came into the restaurant so that I could have contacted the customer prior to even arriving at the restaurant (These restaurant can contact drivers through the app as I’ve had many restaurants to do so).

This would have alleviated any unnecessary wait time & ensured that the order was completely ready to walk out the door. I have a insulated bag that I use but if food is sitting on the counter getting cold... It isn’t going to keep the food piping hot.

I had to wait longer than I should have as she stopped helping me to help another delivery driver AND afterwards went to take food out the window INSTEAD of giving me the pie so that I could get the customer HOT FRESH FOOD.

My driving ratings are beyond stellar & one of the reasons is because I treat people like I would want to be treated. This girl didn’t care that the customer’s food was getting cold as she took her time all while displaying frustration & agitation. She was upset because I politely asked another worker (who was extremely nice) to get my customer’s pie so that I could get out of there to make the delivery.

I even witnessed one of the cooks pulling out his cellphone without changing gloves. This too is why I wouldn’t eat there.

I would NEVER eat at this establishment as a result of how I was treated as a delivery driver.... I didn’t appreciate that my customer’s food wasn’t a priority to this girl. You can tell a lot about a person by the small things & I can tell you for sure that quality was of no value to her.

I wouldn’t eat there even if the meal was free. I’ve wanted to try them BUT will never step foot into this restaurant UNLESS I’m picking up a delivery. There are plenty of other hot chicken restaurants with stellar service to drivers & customer’s that you can...

07/08/2022 update. Felt like I was greeted with love!! However, the back office needs to hear this. The chicken has changed. The food is going down. I tried to give it another try. Or maybe I came too late in the evening. Everything below still applies. But even worse I got some wings because I never had them here. Girllllll. Check out the pictures. They must have a whole new staffff the chicken is nasty. Plus my wings had pinkkkk inside of it.

09/07/2021 First of all, the chicken is 100% amazing, long as it’s hot and eaten right then! It’s a crispy brown hot and spicy forget the spicy you won’t even taste it that’s how good it is! So yes you want some good fried chicken yes try them out. Now the chicken is absolutely amazing, however i want to make sure my folks understand that the sides are not a very good go to item. None of them!! Lol maybe the fries but I haven’t had them. So let’s start with the Mac n cheese. Definitely a miss. dry and no taste just a cheesy mess. The collard greens are absolutely disgusting lol sorry. But it’s a big miss for me. Seems they whipped them from a can and added water and nothing else no seasonings or anything just a bitter mess. Now the baked beans you really shouldn’t go wrong with them however they were over cooked and yucky. I mean a mushy mess. Tart. I also had the potato salad, better off getting Publix potatoes salad. This is my liking and disliking. So to each is own. I wasn’t pleased with their sides at all. I would have to say if you’re going to waste the calories just get the damn fries or okras. Now that i got that out the way here’s the neat part. The staff is extremely friendly, greets everyone. The establishment is clean cute...

First. Gus Chicken is great chicken and worth the experience. However, the Chamblee location employees ARE NOT practicing the healthy hygiene and prevention of the spread of the virus. mask are worn on or under the chin. Even the cook is not wearing gloves (and that's required even without pandemic) The cashier is expediting food with face mask around neck and no gloves. They are without discretion walking around sampling the food and not washing their hands. There were four staff members there was only one gentleman that practiced the wearing of the face mask properly as well as the gloves in the kitchen.

Now lets talk about the meal. The Chamblee location has awful customer service coupled very rude and disrespectful employees!!! After waiting for well over 25 minutes, the order was incorrect. The lady cook came around to the counter area, took the order from me and returned to the kitchen to make again. Needless to say she did not wash her hand and still did not wear a mask. I received a new order and when I got to the office, I realized Gus Chicken DOES NOT WASTE FOOD. I say this because the chicken I received was definitely from the day before. It was dry and brittle which is far different than crispy. It also had the smell of old chicken and that's not a good smell. I discarded the complete order. I have ordered from the Roswell Rd location when they used to deliver and it is definitely far better and what is expected of Gus Chicken. Never had a bad experience until I visited Chamblee....
