Food: 5/5 Fried Green Tomatoes - The added sweet and spicy from the fruit and peppers was a great twist to a classic dish. Honey Poached Beets - All flavors were identifiable with the additions of candied pecans and goat cheese being complimentary. Shrimp Pozolito - spicy tomatoe sauce with lots of flavor. Shrimp was cooked perfectly not to spongy or chewy. Blackened Tuna - Presentation and taste were fantastic. It comes seared rare, which the physical menu did not specify. We needed it cooked thoroughly and it still had a lot of flavor and nice texture.

Service: 5/5 Waitor Jayden was super busy, however he remained attentive and took time to explain menu items. My wife hates sending items back, but Jayden was quick to offer cooking her meal thoroughly after informing him she's pregnant and unable to eat undercooked fish. Whenever service is exceptional, we inform the manager and offer praise. Manager Caleb expressed gratitude, took time to listen to both our comments, shook our hands and thanked us afterwards.

Atmosphere: 4/5 Upon arrival, the receptionist asked if we had a reservation. We didn't, but they were still able to seat us quickly on a busy Wednesday evening. The seating arrangement was a little too cramped. I couldn't hear background music, however my wife could. Since it was busy, conversational noise drowned out the music, but also provides privacy at...

We have been going to Southbound since it opened. We eat there probably once a week on average, so I have tried everything on the menu, as well as many of the cocktails. Some dishes might not be to your liking as everyone's taste is different (my fiancee won't eat Octopus, but I love it), but I can say without ANY reservation, I have never had a bad experience that made me not want to return. We bring all of our friends to try them out, and they never disappoint. Wait staff has been super friendly from day one, and the folks they hire tend to stay for years, which tells you a LOT about the work environment, which also shows in the way they approach their customers...like family. I have read some of the very infrequent negative reviews, and I have witnessed some people having issues, and I can say that from what I have seen, those are the customers that are NEVER happy anywhere they go. Just ignore the complainers, visit them for dinner, make a reservation on Yelp! and they won't disappoint. They also have a great coffee shop upstairs that is open in the morning, and they do lunch as well. Very down to earth and FANTASTIC food. Try the Southbound Manhattan, our favorite dinner cocktail, or have a beer from their great selection...sorry, no crappy light beer sold here, so get over it! Hope to see you there!

Great job Southbound, glad your...

I can't believe it's taken me this long to make it to Southbound. I had a late cup of coffee at Moonbird which is located in the space upstairs and decided that it was time to put food in the belly so I decided to dine at Southbound. It's in an old factory with a vintage wooden bar serving farm-fresh Southern food. Its located in Historic Chamblee and opened Tuesday to Saturday, they're closed in Sunday's.

I'm totally in love with this space, the exposed brick, wood, large party dining space and the outdoor seating area. Its beautiful!

It was a sunny and clear winter afternoon so I decided to sit outside.... love a restaurant with outdoor seating. The hostess gave us our menu and then the waiter came over to greet us and go over the menu and specials. Very welcoming service and the employees wore smiles so that's always a plus. Pretty decent lunch selection which you also have access to on Saturday until 2:30. I ordered the shrimp po'boy with a side of fries which was $14 and topped with romaine, pickles and a sauce.

Pros: Shrimp was seasoned and perfectly fried Service was good Ambience and outdoor seating Menu selection Private parking

Cons: Nothing special about fries, not seasoned Sandwich had too much lettuce Restaurant wasn't very clean inside and several tables weren't cleared from last...

Southbound Chamblee lunch: Please note, these thoughts are our evaluation based on our visit. Boneless fried chicken breast, collards, deviled eggs, fried green tomatoes, mac & cheese, tomato soup. My Little Princess wanted a bone in fried chicken breast, but my taste of the boneless chicken appeared to be cooked just right, not over cooked.  They tend to be better fried bone in.  Collards were very good, seasoned well, and although the addition of vinegar was good for me, my Little Princess would have preferred the vinegar on the side as usually seen in Southern restaurants.  Deviled Eggs . . .  Tasted like a Southern Baptist Church Woman's at an after church luncheon that never learned how to cook from her Southern GrandMother.  Plain, but doctored with salt. pepper, and hot sauce, it would be OK, just didn't have the minced dill pickles with me.  I loved the fried green tomatoes with pineapple habanero jam and goat cheese, could have added a little more heat for our taste.  The mac & cheese was something to pass on, close to Kraft in a box.  The tomato soup was spot on, one of the best I have had, seasoned just right! The service provided by Caleb was most excellent.  We understand he is also available for service at the bar for your service.

I needed a place to grab something to eat whole I continued to work. This was it. Arrived during the lunch hour, had my pick of seats at the bar where every other seat had an outlet and hook for a purse or bag. The decor was a whole vibe. Loved the look of the lighting, the wood finish around the walls and floors and right out the back door you can see the trains passing by. I ordered a Holytrinity...bourbon and rum blend with a few other ingredients AND the ice cube was engraved with the SB...nice touch. I also ordered the fried green tomatoes. Somebody flipped it and put goat cheese on top with a pineapple habenero sauce that was all things amazing. I figured I'd try the brussel salad. What a combination of veggies, berries and nuts. They put blue cheese in there too. It hit the spot. I love trying different variations of my favorites and this place did a great job. The service was pleasant and fast. The only thing I would recommend is more air but I suppose the fans are a part of the eclectic vibe. Nonetheless, I believe I've found my favorite lunch time spot. Definitely going back soon.
