South End Smokehouse — Restaurant in Chamblee

South End Smokehouse, inside of Chamblee Tap & Market, is an excellent BBQ joint. Their customer service was above and beyond. They engaged me in conversation. She asked me if it was my first time ordering with them, I replied in the affirmative and asked the cashier what her favorites were and I went with her recommendations; I am very glad I followed her advice.

I tried their 2 meat 2 sides plate and got brisket and pulled pork for my meats and collards and mac and cheese for my sides. The meats are barbecued to perfection; smoky and super tender. The term "unctuous" comes to mind.

Their sauces are par excellence. She recommended I try a sample of all four of their sauces. Their house sauce is the Platonic ideal of the sweet tomatoe-based smoky BBQ sauce. Their NC mustard sauce tastes like the best glaze your grandmother puts on her holiday ham. They are also great in combo. Their spicy BBQ sauce tastes similar to their house sauce but with a nice spicy kick. Their NC vinegar sauce has a nice tanginess to it.

Their sides are also excellent. The Mac and cheese stands out. It was creamy with plenty of cheese pull and a nice underlying garlickyness to the cheesesauce. The collards had plenty of meat and the salt level was perfect: the pot liquor broth was really good. As i was a 1st time customer, the cashier let me sample their pit bean and their Cole slaw sides as well. Their pit beans were great; their sauce was smoky and a little sweet and they had plenty of meat in them as well. Their Cole slaw was good; a Southern-style classic.

The venue is charming. It seems like a place where locals go to hang after work. It had live music that was nice to listen to. Chamblee Tap & Market combines South End Smokehouse that has BBQ and non-alcoholic drinks with a Bar across from them that sells whatever cocktails, beer, wine, or liquor one might be inclined to try.

All in all, I had an awesome time with delicious food. I would highly recommend it to others. It is just a couple miles from the area of Atlanta where 285 and 85 meet at Doraville; right off of Peachtree Industrial BLVD. Parking can be a little tricky, but drive right past Chamblee Tap & Market til you see a Bridal shoppe and then turn left and there is some public parking about 500 feet...

We had the absolute joy of visiting South End Smokehouse, and it’s safe to say this place is something truly special. It’s more than just a restaurant—it’s the dream of a local couple finally come to life. Buzz, the owner and chef, has been in the industry for years, and this smokehouse has been 20 years in the making. You can feel the passion in the atmosphere—and definitely taste it in the food!

Let’s talk about that food… The smashed burger was a total standout—cooked to perfection, bursting with flavor, and perfectly portioned. One of the best we’ve ever had! We also loved the cheesesteak brisket—tender, juicy, and smoky in all the right ways. The French fries were crisp and perfectly salted, and the mac and cheese? Creamy, comforting, and tasted like it came straight from someone’s Southern kitchen.

But it’s not just the food that makes this place shine. The location is fantastic—right across from Chamblee City Hall—with a fun, relaxed vibe. There’s outdoor seating, live music, a game room full of table games, and a full bar that makes it just as great for date night as it is for family outings or hanging with friends.

South End Smokehouse is inviting, delicious, and full of heart. If you’re looking for your new favorite neighborhood spot—this is it. We can’t wait to go back and bring more...

The food is just amazing, Brisket is tender seasoned to perfection, Ribs are phenomenal, The house BBQ sauce is just the right amount of everything. The Mac and cheese, The pulled pork, The Brisket Chili, We tried just about everything in Norcross at a festival and immediately went to the restaurant the next day. The staff is so personable and kind. They always make sure you are happy with your meal. They wont settle for anything less and all I can say is get there early if you want what your craving, They take pride in their perfection, So they sell out fast, This is real BBQ seasond to perfection. Its made with LOVE and you feel and taste it in every bite. Nothing Makes this staff happier then knowing everyone leaves satisfied to fullest and with a smile. They are all great, The customer service is beyond what I've ever experienced. Ill be back...
