So we've been seeing more and more Rreal Tacos popping up and decided to give it one more shot. We totally acknowledge that maybe our original trip nearly a year ago was an off night for the place considering they were still new to the location.
Nope. Never going back. It should be also noted that Rreal Tacos in GA has a lot of 5 star reviews from single review accounts based in CA. I'm sorry, but if you're visiting Atlanta from California, Rreal Tacos isn't on your "go to" list. Treat the Yelp reviews with suspicion.
Let's start with the menu. I'm fine with QR code menus. I don't like them, they feel as a cold way to bring customers into the dining experience, but that's fine. What I hate about the QR code menu at Rreal Taco is that they're linking users to the regular commercial site. I'm a web developer. I built the site for a certain "we won't sell our soggy chicken sandwiches on Sunday" company and the Rreal Taco site is horrible. People already in your restaurant don't need a menu with animation that messes up page scrolling. The experience feels like a junior developer just learned about CSS keyframes and was like "Mom, look what I can do". It is your in-house menu, keep it simple.
Next, the food was bland. I mean, if bland was a flavor that could be marketed (think "New Doritos Bland Flavor Chips"), it would be this. There was absolutely no flavor to the crispy avocado appetizer. My wife normally doesn't like lime added to her tacos, but felt that maybe it needed it because her fish and avocado taco just didn't have any flavor. I had the shrimp and chicken tacos along with the birria taco. I couldn't tell the difference between the shrimp and chicken at all. All I tasted was raw onion. I may not believe in a higher being, but I could be convinced that the combination of lime and cilantro is proof of a god, because the two of them together is a-fking-mazing and yet I don't recollect any cilantro flavoring. I saw it on the tacos, but I didn't taste it. Maybe it was the 2 pounds of raw onion that masked the flavor.
Lastly, I just noticed today when looking at our receipt, but flour tacos were an additional charge. As we ordered our tacos, we were asked if we wanted flour or corn and we opted for the flour. At no point were we told that it would cost extra per taco. Now the price isn't the issue. We regularly go to MF Sushi, Aria, and we've recently decided that Bacchanalia is going to be a added to our regular spots. We don't flinch at a $300 meal, so we're not going to care about paying $2 more. The issue is the lack of disclosure. It feels dishonest and that is something we won't deal with.
We were wondering why this place gets high marks and we think we figured it out. I will admit that my margarita was strong AF. Again, it didn't have any flavor, but it was strong. And it felt good. So maybe the positive reviews are alcohol induced. Taqueria del Sol is across the street. Go there if you want tacos. Take the 10 minute or so to go to Bar Taco in Buckhead. Hell, we get better tacos from HelloFresh. Man, I'd even go as far to say there is a Chipotle across the street. Gun to my head, I have to choose between Rreal Tacos and Chipotle, I'm sadly...
Read moreHorrible! This used to be my second favorite Mexican restaurant within the Atlanta Metropolitan area but never again! Mind you this restaurant was already one a strike one with me back in February from messing up my order. So I wait approximately 2 months and 6 days later to return on to be highly disappointed and vowed to never ever return in the near future.
I was sat and waited for eternity for a server to arrive. Strike one, the server greets the table to the left of me that was sat literally 7 minutes after me. Server takes my drink order only to wait another 10 minutes for me to receive my drink in a very non busy establishment, Next, the server finally reappears after being MIA for well over 15 minutes to take my order. Order finally arrived 20 minutes later in which, I inform the food runner that I need some silverware. Boom, 10 minutes later, the hostess attempts to sit a party of four at the table across from me, at a dirty table, that hasn’t been cleaned and walks away. Then someone shows up to that table five minutes later to attempt to clean a table off that new guests were literally abandoned at five minutes prior and talk about the actual audacity of this madness! Mind you I started hollering Sir, to get the attention of the person cleaning off the table across from me because I’m 38 hot at the level of unprofessionalism and audacity of these nuts at this very establishment. I told him to that I’ve been waiting over ten minutes for silverware, server MIA and to bring me my receipt for my drink, take this food back because it’s now cold and to cancel my to go order.
Hell could freeze over but I will never patronize or ever step food in any of your establishments ever again! I guess this is typical behavior in DeKalb County restaurants because I left here and went to another establishment in this same shopping area and never got served. I’ve spent thousands of dollars with this business over a 2.5 year period and they’ve lost a valuable customer with this horrible customer service. I literally live in Rockdale County and wasted valuable time and energy on a horrible experience and consumer’s beware cause you all deserve to spend your hard earned money at restaurants that value you as a customer.
After this horrible experience, I continue to spend my money in Marietta/ Cobb County because Dekalb County restaurants clearly can’t seem to get their...
Read moreAfter leaving a concert in Midtown we were starving and wanted some good drinks. I had this restaurant's food before vis Uber Eats but never sat in house. We decided to go to this location.
The staff really did their thing with decorating for Christmas. Its like something you would see on TV honestly. I almost felt like I was in NYC. Loved it. The location is the bottom floor of an apartment community so it is very tiny on the inside. They also have an outdoor section that is covered and heated. We chose outside. The host knew who I was with and seated me as soon as I walked in.
The menu is on a label that is located on each corner of the table. You also pay your bill scanning the same label. Since the receipt was emailed to me I just listed it below. The server was easily accessible and she was very attentive. I enjoyed the tacos like usual but the star of the night was the queso. It was the perfect consistency and taste. Not overly salty or too think or loose. The only disappointment I had was the consome we ordered for the Birria Tacos. It had zero flavor or seasoning and tasted like cinnamon water.
All in all everything was good.
