El Toro Bravo — Restaurant in Champaign

Had my birthday there with 9 of my friends. Someone asked the waiter if I get a free b day drink. The waiter said yes a shot of tequila. I said I can't drink alcohol straight can you mix it with something. He said yes and brought me a margarita. I clarified that that was my b day drink and hes said yes then I ordered a second margarita later which I expected to pay for. At the very end of our meal we were getting up to leave the waiter brings a shot of tequila and tells me its my birthday drink. I said " what am I supposed to do with this? So when I went to pay I asked the mngr to make an adjustment to my bill. He refused. I feel that I was cheated and told the mngr that. So I did not drink the shot and paid for two margaritas instead of one that I actually felt that I owed them for. I have come to this resturant for years and when they were in north Champaign. Then when I complained the mngr told the waiter to take my second margarita and my birthday shot off of the table. Which he did until I told him to put it back. So I'm not sure who the mngr thinks he is but that is the wrong way to treat a customer. And by the way I did not drink the birthday shot. I gave it to another patron.So me and my 9 friends won't be going back there...

Horrible experience. My mother and I decided to go to el toro for the tostadas. We didn’t want to eat in so we waited at the stand where the waiters/ cashier usually rings the people up. One of the waiters came up to us with two menus and proceeded to seat us but we told him that we wanted take out. So he left and we waited on the bench. A white couple came in and stood at the stand and a cashier came and took their orders and immediately left when we got up. We then sat back down and waited. Then another white couple came and he only took their orders and repeated his earlier actions. We were not offered service and we’re confused. I normally don’t write reviews but this made me sad. This has happened to me before at other restaurants but I really feel that it wasn’t right. Anyways hopefully no one else experiences this kind of...

The seating and even food service are very prompt. The food leaves something to be desired though. We ordered cheese sauce for the complementary chips and it just tasted like cheap white American cheese with too much milk. My daughter and I both ordered the same meal which on the menu gave a choice of meat. The waitress did not give us a choice and put the order in as chicken. A simple mistake and she did apologize no real harm. The chicken was dry and tasted of charcoal. It was underseasoned as well. The rest of the burrito ingredients were just sporadic and very light/ few and far between. The burrito was very loosely wrapped and had not been sealed like a burrito should on a grill.
