Illini Inn — Restaurant in Champaign

I'm just rating the food because I don't drink. Because this is a bar, I would've never thought to eat there. Interestingly enough I now realize their food might be a local best kept secret. I preface this with saying that it is bar food. With that being said, it's some GREAT bar food. Wings are decent, but nothing spectacular. The pizza is absolutely great! Fridays they have $8 large one topping pizzas, and the combination of the great tasting pizza and that price makes this one of the best pizza options on campus. They have other daily food specials I would like to try out too. Most recently I had their burgers. I was pleasantly surprised at how huge the burgers are, and mine were cooked to perfection with fresh toppings as well. I was also surprised by the somewhat lacking amount of fries that came with the burgers, but the fries at least tasted great. The recent remodel is really nice, and the place is nice and clean too. Well I have to put my review in context, my dad and I wanted to go down and check it out, but were completely oblivious that they were playing Wisconsin at home(Our faults yes). So parking was a challenge, we drove around the block like twice and than actually found a really great spot about a block and a half away. Bring coins or get the App on your phone, us old dummies asked a group of students if they had some change and they didn't but one of the girls was nice enough to add time on the app on here phone, so we were set. We were able to get good seating but on game day it is a whole different scenario, you have to order at the bar and there is a very limited menu. This is still a cool place and the staff was great, just don't be dummies like us. I would definitely try this place again on a off night. I wasn't big into the Inn before they renovated, and I am still not super impressed with it now. The service wasn't great even early in the evening when they weren't busy. The bartenders all seemed more interested in talking to each other and their friends at the bar than serving...
