BEST RESTAURANT ON GREEN. period. i live 3 min walk from this place, and i come here every single sunday because my meal plan is only for 6 days of the week. of all the 20 times i’ve come, ive only ever gotten pad thai and mango sticky rice. my friends all love this place and i take all my special guests here whenever i have an occasion. today was my 20th (golden) birthday which also happens to be on easter!! He is risen!!! i only ordered pad thai with my friend from another university who’s visiting for the first time. i told the owner this is my favorite place at uiuc. and the owner of the restaurant came up to my table and gave me a mango sticky rice cup!!! best place EVER. earns and deserves my #1 spot.

Bangkok Thai Restaurant & Pho is about as authentic as you can get on Green Street. Thai noodles and curry tastes like home. Tried the egg rolls to start and was fresh and crispy, really not a fan of bean thread noodles, but still good. Phad See Eiw and Phad Thai are cooked with just enough tangy and spice. Very flavorful and generous on the protein and veggies. Rounded the meal with a Beef Red Curry with potatoes with a heat level of 4 gave enough spice and really packed a punch. Looking forward to returning to Bangkok Thai Restaurant to try the Pho.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for literally FOREVER and I finally got around to doing so! Much like I’ve heard from others, I can agree this place is a hidden gem for Thai food! 🥢🥡 Ordered the Beef Pad Thai with no spice. For $13, this was a plentiful and generous portion. The noodles were cooked perfectly as was the beef. It was really tasty - I even had leftovers because of how big the portion was! It’s located on Green Street and is super close to campus. Will be back! ❤️

Picked this place based on recommendation of a Thai person who wrote that it “tasted like home.” It was the most disappointing/worst Thai food I have ever had. Maybe they had an off night, because others seem to love the food. FWIW, based on who I saw in the back of the house, perhaps the cook was not Thai, but anybody can cook good food with the right ingredients…

My sorrows: None of the signature flavor profile of galangal, ginger, or lemongrass in evidence in the curry. It was spicy but otherwise bland, and vegetables in the curry were meager. I ordered tod mun fish cakes, and they were industrially formed pucks and tasted like the bottom of a pond. Would not recommend that item. Another person in the party had similarly industrial looking meat balls in his soup and didn’t care for them. It was loud and didn’t seem very clean, which I would not have cared about if the food had been outstanding. But less than mediocre food in a dingy restaurant…I wouldn’t give it a...

BEWARE and make sure to check your bank if you pay with card. The middle-aged Asian man that is always taking orders charged me THREE times. This man was immediately rude when taking my order and very dismissive. Incompetent. I saw him put my card into the reader three times. I questioned him when he did this, he completely dismissed me and ignored my question. I felt an immediate dishonest vibe from this man, so I checked my recent transactions and of course, this man charged me three times. When I asked him, he acted like he didn’t have a clue and then finally admitted and didn’t even apologize, the other workers did for him. Look at previous reviews warning of this same guy being dishonest. Will not be back at this establishment. I ignored the dirty atmosphere before, but this shady and disgusting act was...
