Captain Tom's — Restaurant in Channelview

Honestly, I thought I was being pranked when I tried this food for the first time. Either that or they ran out of seasoning before preparing my food. This is hands-down the most disappointing food I have ever tried here in Houston. I ordered a seafood platter and not one item on the plate was seasoned not even a pinch of salt. I personally only season my food with salt and pepper to taste when at home… I don’t care for salty or overly flavorful food but I can honestly tell you.. this food was hard to just swallow because of the unsettling flavor of just batter and nothing else. When I got home I even tried using sauces and that couldn’t even hide the bland bitter nonexistent taste of this food. I was almost tempted to call the restaurant back and find out what happened, but it took so long for them to even answer the phone for me to place the order to begin with that I figured why bother! Love this place! People from all walks of life talking, interacting, no one speaking the same language! It's just something you can't quite put your finger on. You walk into the place and want to be there. From the crazy crooked bar and walking up to the bow of the boat and then back down, watch your step! It's cramped, it's cozy, it's the place you want to be if you love people. The food is exemplary, and the oysters are excellent. The gentlemen behind the bar amaze me in their ability to shuck oysters so quickly. The cool thing is you get your oysters perfectly shucked and not all ripped to pieces like some places. The fried shrimp are huge and everything is done up in real simple corn flour. The micheladas are the best! The mixture of fresh lime, salt and their secret sauce will keep you coming back for more. The seafood was no good and service was garbage. I ordered crab fingers they smelled like ammonia, once finally receiving my oysters he served me a bad one and they were bland.The waiter that taking care of us literally discriminated against us and only served the Spanish people . It started when we first came in. I attempted to get his attention he saw us and continued to acknowledge everyone else until his co worker said something. I literally asked for a dozen of oysters 3 times. He said ok but instead of taking of our order he continued to take only the spanish. He didnt take care of us until I made a scene. I would definitely recommend you going somewhere else especially when our bill was literally $60 we got treated like trash.
