Foster's Grille seemed welcoming enough. It was recommended by a friend of mine who suggested the breaded chicken sandwich. I tried the charburger instead.
The shake was delicious. Absolutely pure chocolate ice cream that you could taste, with extra emphasis on the cream flavor.
The charburger wasn't bad either. It tasted like a standard pub burger with the standard trimmings. I was thinking of going all in, so I ordered a shake, fries, and the burger with lettuce, tomato, mustard, ketchup, mayo, and relish.
It was all going so well... then I got into a white-greenish spot of the burger and it was absolutely PUTRID. A horrible bitter sharp taste rose to my mouth and I thought, if just for a second, that I was going to vomit. I think it was the unholy combination of mayonnaise, relish, and mustard that cursed the charburger. Scrapping off the unholy sauce, I should have brought it up to have it remade, but I had to be somewhere and didn't have the time. I did finish off the fries though - which were still good.
Why four stars? There are some joints where you can have the above toppings put together on a burger, and not have it be so off-putting it stops you from eating it. These choices of condiments are entirely my fault for adding though, and being unfamiliar with the place there was no way to know for sure if they'd turn out right. That's not Foster's fault. What is in their control is the pricing -- perhaps lowering the upcharge for a combo (instead of ringing fries, shake, and burger all seperately) would have been nice. Fries were good, the service was good, the decor was good, but the price was not. For $17, you can get some better...
Read moreNot great service. I work retail and I know the struggle of being short handed. I don't believe that was the issue. I placed my order which included a cider. The kid working the register blurted out that his manager would have to pour it. I tried to show him my ID but he didn't bother looking. Didn't think much of it, had to ask for the cup that came with the meal and then had to ask for our table marker because we weren't given either. My husband's food comes out and was first delivered to the wrong table. They bring over his food and asked what my order was. I let them know about my meal. They brought my food over and said a manager would be out to talk about the alcohol. Manager comes over and let me know that I wasn't charged for the cider and said he could ring me up now. No apology. At this point, I told him not to worry about it. Food is normally pretty good but this time my onion rings seemed to have been undercooked. Overall experience...
