I visited Texas Roadhouse today around lunchtime with my family and had a really negative experience.
We have been coming here for a long time (nearly 3 years), spending roughly $100-150 per visit. I'd like to note that we are reasonably good tippers, as we tend to leave 20% as the food and service are usually great. We had our food as usual and were enjoying our meal until it came down to pay. (As a sidenote, our server was great. Even though the place was packed for Easter Sunday, she was both very attentive and nice!).
Because we eat so frequently at Texas Roadhouse, my mom had purchased some giftcards online to use towards our order. When we had applied it via the ziosk, it accepted the card and went directly to the tip option screen. At this point, we were just confused as to whether the giftcard had been applied properly, so we flagged down our server, who said she'd take the issue up with the manager.
The manager came over and sat directly down at our table with zero indication or sort of greeting other than identifying that she was the manager. Personally, as a former restaurant manager, I would have never gone to address a customer's corner without a proper introduction and apology, much less sat down at their table! She explained that the giftcard had been applied to the tip, which was less than what 20% of our bill would have been. We were trying to explain that we wanted to 1. make sure that our giftcard was applied properly and 2. that our server would be receiving a tip for her great service. However, she was both curt and seemingly accusatory, making it seem as though we were intending not to tip at all. I don't think it's right to hold that so openly against a guest, especially when we have been visiting this restaurant so many times over the years and have always tipped well. Furthermore, she walked away without giving any explanation about what was going on with the giftcard situation after. It appears that she removed the giftcard from our bill without notifying us that she would be doing so. We had to flag down our server and ensure that our bill was settled (as the ziosk said that we had a remaining balance of $15). During this time, she was very apologetic and patient, which speaks volumes to how great our server was and how poor the service and communication of our manager was.
Overall, the food and server's service was great, but the manager was extremely unprofessional. Judging from the other reviews that I've glanced at, it's no surprise. I'm sorry to say that Texas Roadhouse has lost my and my family's support as a customer, primarily due to the manager's rudeness and...
Read moreI marked one date to end summer (Labor Day) by going to an old haunt I had not visited in years. The place has retained its local and family-friendly vibe serving Chantilly and surrounds. The interior remains clean and well maintained. Sitting at the bar afforded me professional and attentive service by both Lindsay and Kristin for the evening. Kitchen times for food for a busy holiday kept within reasonable lengths from order to arrival.
I settled on a mild boneless wing appetizer with a side of steak fries followed by the sirloin/ribs combo with sweet potato and green beans as my sides. Drinks were kept refreshed throughout mostly without me having to ask. The Parker house rolls for bread to start are hot from the oven, wonderfully chewy on the inside, and shiny on the outside. The wings have a pleasing mild flavor as advertised and a satisfying crunch with the exterior even with the sauce on the outside. I could have done with a little bigger and warmer portion of steak fries for a side, but the potatoes are seasoned well and had a relatively clean, definitely-not-greasy flavor. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium-rare still juicy and grilled just enough on the outside. Having the sweet potato with mini marshmallows reminds me of my mom’s Thanksgiving sweet potato casserole I loved growing up. The actual potato skin easily comes away from the potato, leaving a warm well cooked potato to scoop with the marshmallows. Rib meat literally fell away from the bone, as I devoured the entire portion so cleanly I impressed a fellow diner seated next to me. The sauce strikes me as a tad sweet for my taste but could see how others might enjoy the Memphis style all the same. Green beans had a vibrant green color without excess saltiness from the onions and bacon bits. My only very minor complaint centers on the pool of liquid left on my plate ostensibly from the mushrooms and possibly the steak. Could there be some way to have less liquid at the bottom of the plate? The flavors and textures were all very satisfying otherwise.
I skipped dessert considering the quantity of food I received. I did however have a second order of rolls part of which I took home and enjoyed the next day almost as much. My total bill before tip came to just over $40, leaving this chain as one of the best values in the county and possibly Northern Virginia. While I can make a decent steak at home, every now and then I could certainly come here and get a few things I might not cook at home and enjoy a local atmosphere with attentive service and delicious meats and sides for...
Read moreMy husband and I arrived at 9:30pm on a Tuesday evening. I am a server, so I get it when you come in late, HURRY so they can close and go home. We were seated and Jeff was our server. At 1st he was on point. I ordered a double Tito's with cranberry. We received our filets which were sooo delicious, we eat at Roadhouse often, but i would have to say this was hands down the most delicious food we have ever gotten. Victor was the chef and we complimented him on our way out. However I asked our server Jeff for another drink. This was at 9:56pm he then told me, No I couldn't have another one, I asked why and he stated that the bar was closed, we were sat at a bar table and I could clearly see patrons sitting and drinking. Jeff then told us he couldn't serve me because it closed in 4 minutes, also something about an abc law?? I was upset with this. I asked if he would simply ask the bartender if he would make one more, instead of him asking him, he went to the kitchen (which was right behind where we were sitting and I could hear him complaining about us. He then came back and said as I stated before he is closed. I said had I known it was last call I would have ordered them, however he never told us it was last call. He dismissed us like we didn't matter and he was running the place. I then asked to speak to a manager. Chrissy came over and I explained the situation and she was AMAZING! She said that's why we call last call so you can get what you need then. She then had the bartender make me another drink... Awesome all was well.. Jeff kept walking by us, and checking on his other table next to us... We knew they were closing, so we decided to get Togo boxes and go.. one of the other servers who was off, grabbed us Togo boxes and a bag, lids for the butter and everything... Jeff then came back around and we told him thank you and we were sorry for the mix up. He was professional at that point and all was well again. I just want to give a huge shout-out to Chrissy the manager, and also Victor the Chef! You guys made our visit go from a 1-star, to a 10-star!! I highly recommend this Texas Roadhouse, however I do suggest you go in earlier before they are about to close... Thank you Chrissy & Victor, you made the visit well worth it... BTW, we tipped $11.00 on a $80.00 check, lesson for Jeff, we would have tipped...
