Our experience was very different from most reviews here. We ordered food on phone to be delivered to our hotel, a walking distance from the restaurant. The owner charged our card for the amount of $146.19 on our credit card which was successfully run on our credit card because I got a text notification on my Apple Watch confirming the transaction. The owner however claimed that the transaction did not go through & he had to void it ( how do you void a transaction that did not go through!). A few minutes later there was a second charge on my credit card for the same amount and when I called the owner he claimed that the transaction did not go through & he voided it again but my online CC statement showed that the fellow ran the CC twice for the same amount and both of them were approved (on next day the charges are still there). Now, the guy was delivering the food & he wanted to take my card with him to his restaurant to physically run the card which I had to refuse & offer to pay cash. I called my credit card company & they confirmed that both the transactions were approved and I put the credit card company on speaker phone to have the CC company rep tell the owner what he had done. There was no reason for him to void it and then for him to run the card again & void it (void was not reflected on my statement, just the two charges). Now, the guy was telling me that he is a businessman & he knows what he is doing!!! I paid the guy cash because I did not want him to drive away with my card as he wanted to do (crazy). If all this was not bad enough, there was more to come. Lamb curry had only two pieces of ‘fatty meat’ in it & rest only sauce. The saag paneer had only saag but hardly any paneer. The naan was badly baked (partially raw). It appears the fellow grabbed whatever leftover he could from his buffet and brought it to us. I felt cheated & disrespected. Overall, it was a terrible experience and I wish I could give given this review a zero. Now, I have to keep track of my credit card to make sure there are no more unauthorized charges on my credit card down the road. I would suggest to avoid this restaurant because my experience tells me that the owner is not there to provide value to his customers but provide substandard food, pick their pocket and as a result...

I had high hopes for this place. I'm so sadly disappointed. First off I added up everything I got according to the prices on their website and my order should have been $55.21 before tax. Somehow my husband paid $70 when he went to pick it up. Second, the food was not made correctly. Different entrees were spicy when they shouldn't have been. It was so spicy that I couldn't enjoy it. My shrimp Do Piazo was very spicy and I couldn't eat it. The fish pakoras were dry and again, couldn't eat them. The vegetable pakoras were weird and not what I expected, also very spicy. My husband got the lamb curry and he wasn't a fan of it, he said it was OK. It was super expensive and just a complete waste of money. I'm not sure if it was because we ordered the food an hour before closing or what. I also had questions about the menu and the woman I spoke to didn't understand me and I think she was confused upon taking my order. I repeated that I didn't want spicy and she assured me that it would be mild. By the time my husband got home and we tried the food, the restaurant had closed and I couldn't call. I'm hoping we can come to a resolution and figure out why the price was so high. They never gave him a receipt either so we...

Walked in based on google reviews on a long road trip from VA to OH because we eat at North Indian restaurants all across the country. Parking was hard because of a festival across the street. Had to make 2-3 rounds around the block to find a space.

Didn't have Masala Tea (Was told it takes too long to make on the weekend). The Lassi and Mango Lassi were watered down and had a funky after taste. Vegetable Pakora appetizer was bad... outside was overdone and inside was raw (fry oil was too hot). Malai Kofta was kofta balls in a generic red sauce. No Malai (Cream) on top. This is the only thing my family finished. Garlic Nan was looked store bought, warmed up and garlic paste smeared on top. No one ate this. Vegetable Biryani has overcooked potatoes, undercooked onions (almost raw) and the masala and rice were not even mixed well. Had chunks of white rice all through the Biriyani. Pooris were ok for a hungry child.

We ate only vegetarian food. They seem to have a large following in the town with couple of large tables full. Hope their meat dishes were better than what we...

Ordered from here today 12/03/23. I’ve eaten Indian food since I was 10 years old and it is my go to take out food. I’ve eaten Indian food back home in Ireland, England, Norway, Germany, Spain and France to name a few and I’ve never in my 37 years of eating great Indian food have I had a worst meal in my life. I paid $100 for chicken curry (as you can see from the pics) there was four pieces of chicken. No bigger than the end of my finger. If I were to add all four pieces of chicken together I wouldn’t even get one chicken nugget. Not sure if the pics do my case justice. The curry sauce was like water, I mean water, the chapati was covered in oil. I won’t even go into everything we bought but like I said we spent $100 on our food, only for the entire order to be thrown into the garbage. Not fit for a dog. I’ve lived in America 14 years and this is the only bad review I’ve ever written. We will never order from this place again.

Absolutely incredible dining experience! From the moment we walked into Sitar of India, we were greeted with warm hospitality and a welcoming atmosphere. The service was exceptional—Singh was just as amazing as the food itself, attentive and gracious throughout the evening. We started with the Chicken Tikka appetizer and a bowl of lentil soup, both bursting with flavor and setting the tone for an unforgettable meal. For our main course, we shared the Aloo Matar, Chicken Tikka Masala, naan bread, and perfectly cooked basmati rice—every bite was a delicious celebration of authentic Indian cuisine. We ended our meal with a Mango Lassi, which was beyond amazing—so refreshing, smooth, and the perfect finish to a rich and flavorful dinner. Highly recommend this gem in Charleston for anyone craving top-notch Indian food with outstanding service. We’ll definitely be back if we happen to be in the area.

No doubt the food was good and the staff was friendly. However, there are few things that made me unsatisfied. 1. Food was good but it wasn't warm and there was no steam coming out of the food. For best taste, curry dishes should be warm enough. I say, piping hot! 2. We got chicken Tikka Masala and lamb Rogen Josh. There was not much difference whatsoever in their gravy. They used same gravy / curry sauce for both the dishes. Not so cool! We even asked our server what's the difference between the two, he never mentioned they're so similar. 3. Naan supposed to be thicker than chapati / roti. But guess what? It was the other way around. Overall, our visit was not bad. We asked him to make it very spicy and he did that which made us happy because, " if it ain't spicy, it ain't good!"
