East End Pub for the win. 10/10 recommend. Cowboy bay-be! #lunch #Hamburger #EatLocal #Charleston #WestVirginia

I'm torn on this one. A coworker wanted to go here for lunch. She wanted to eat in, not a choice I would have made. Inside and out, this looks like what, as a kid, we would refer to as a "beer joint". However, it was surprisingly busy so, okay. There is a sign near the entrance that says, wait here to be seated so, we waited. After being ignored for a while, someone finally asked if they could help us. Yes, we want to have lunch. Oh, just sit anywhere. Then why the sign? My coworker ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and I got a spicy burger (I don't remember the name but it had pepper jack cheese, jalapenos, and hot sauce). Both came with fries. When my coworker commented that the fries were good, I was confused. Mine were obviously old and reheated. They had that mealy texture that potatoes get when you reheat them. After eating a few, I got to a fresh one and she was right. They were good fries. Apparently, I got the last of an old batch mixed with the first of a new batch. She said her sandwich was good. My burger had decent flavor but was so overcooked that the patty was hard and dry. Even with hot sauce dripping off it, I had to add catsup (it's all they had) for more moisture or I'm not sure I could have finished it. We kept waiting for the check and finally asked for it. Apparently, their Internet service has gone out and they couldn't process any credit card payments or even tell us how much we owed. They actually offered to make the meal free but I added up our meals from the menu prices, added enough for tax and tip, and paid them cash. Overall, not a place I would choose to eat but, if that's where the office wants to order lunch from, I'll be happy to try something else. I wouldn't recommend eating in, though.

Nondescript little bar that’s nothing fancy, but they serve up some really good food. We’ve been a couple times and both times left happy. Known for their burgers and unique egg roll combinations, tonight we tried the pulled pork bbq egg rolls. They’re always out of the Buffalo ones. Apparently they’re very popular. They were stuffed with slow cooker sweet baby rays style bbq and paired well with the housemade ranch. Pretzel bites went perfectly with the beer cheese which had just the hint of tang. We opted for the hotdogs instead of the burgers. We’ve had the burgers before; they’re great, and worth a try. The hotdogs were ok. All-beef hotdogs and English buns from Kristi Ann’s bakery compliment the meaty chili and chunky coleslaw. We would have enjoyed them more with a different type of frank. They were very “beefy”. Overall a great little hidden gem. Update: Another great dinner at the EEP. This time around we finally got to try the Buffalo Eggrolls, BBQ wings, Sweet Chili wings, and the crispy chicken wrap. Everything was hot, fresh, and delicious. Service was on point as usual. Highly recommend getting the Buffalo Eggrolls. You can get a half order and it still makes enough for a appetizer for 2.
