OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE and the food was DELICIOUS!!! I reached out to the Folly Rd. Marco's about having quite a few pizzas, brownies and drinks delivered to a hotel where I had a group of 28 staying. I called the store a couple times in the weeks leading up to the delivery before placing my order online. Each time I called, the person that answered the phone was so polite and helpful. On delivery day, the driver ("9694-H.M.") was on time (a few minutes early, even!) and so polite. When I asked him about the plates and napkins I had requested when I called the store to confirm my order, he had forgotten them and you could tell he felt horrible. He was so apologetic (said he sees the note about the paper products now and just missed it earlier) and offered to go back to the store and get them or go out and buy some at the store around the corner and bring them back. I asked if he'd get reimbursed for that, and he said no, but that didn't matter (I told him it did matter and we didn't need to do that). The group was already starting to come down for dinner, so I asked the hotel if there was any way they could help out (their customer service had also been stellar!). The hotel "saved the day" and was able to provide some paper plates and napkins, so all was well. I told the driver "problem solved" and no worries. I really appreciated him offering to go above and beyond.....I thought service like that was long gone. I was so impressed with this young man. About 20 minutes later, he showed up again at the hotel with a grocery bag of paper plates and napkins (even though he knew the hotel was able to find some for us). I was so impressed with his integrity! I thanked him and said we were good and maybe he could keep those in his car in case he needs them another time. So, Marco's on Folly Beach Rd........not only did you guys provide a great dinner for my group, but had it delivered by a person who is OUTSTANDING at his job!!! Thank you so much for making our...
Read moreSimply put, this was my first and last visit to Marco's.
Online ordering is easy, pizza was fast, but that was about it as far as the good things about Marco's. I got a large specialty pizza and the chicken bites. The total cost was around $26-27 for pickup. The pizza was just plain not good. It tasted cheap. The cheese wasn't very good, toppings were just okay and the crust was nothing special. Seriously, I would much rather have had any of little caesars, papa johns, dominos, or pizza hut, and they'd all be cheaper for the same stuff. The two other people eating also agreed that it just wasn't very good at all. In this case, new doesn't equal better. Stick to Domino's or one of the other chain places for cheap za. Much better pizza. The chicken bites were just mediocre, although they weren't much different from the similar chicken bites from other chain pizza places. None of them are really that good since they probably all bake the chicken from frozen. In sum, the pizza was just not very good and the price was way out of control for what we got. I really expected to get some giant pizza oozing with cheese and it was just kind of frumpy, cheap, cardboard-box-tasting junk. Please, other people, by all means, give it a try and review. I'd honestly be surprised if there were more positive than negative reviews in the next few months unless something changes. ...

OK, we gave Marco's on James Island another shot, I mean, after-all, their West Ashley location was our favorite pizza and driving from JI to WA just isn't practical.
We didn't pick the best time for our second go: 7:45 on a rainy weekday. Having worked in pizza delivery, back when dinosaurs roamed Calhoun St, I can tell you, a rainy night in pizza is a busy night. I knew they would be rushed and slammed, prime time on a blustery evening.
Light sauce, garlic crust, add banana peppers, well done; got it all and there was a bit of a surprise, the banana peppers had some kick - so good! The crust was back to what we love, chewy and crunchy - oh yes! Whatever kinks they worked out with the oven, well, it freakin' worked!
We're so glad to have out go-to pizza back and now, it's closer than ever! We always pick up our orders, and I love when I get there right as it comes out of the oven - yes. Bring it home, throw a few slices on the cast iron skillet to really crisp up the crust and BAM, delicious!
Many thanks to Mark and Mario for really putting their backs into getting the place in shape and ready to roll. And with the XL, you can easily feed 4+ and it's always nice to introduce friends to the best pizza place on James Island they've never...
